How to install NeoForge on a Minecraft server


Summary
NeoForge is a fork of Minecraft Forge, a foundational framework that enables players and developers to create and install mods that customize and enhance the Minecraft gameplay experience. By providing a structured and standardized way to modify the game, NeoForged empowers the community to develop a vast array of mods, from adding new features and mechanics to introducing new content such as items, blocks, creatures, and gameplay mechanics.

Note Access to installing NeoForge via the JAR Menu is limited to Premium servers or Budget servers with the Advanced Support addon. Alternatively, NeoForge can be installed manually by following the guide provided below.

Note The server must fully start once to generate config files and folders.


How to Install NeoForge on a Minecraft Server (JAR Menu)
1. Log in to the BisectHosting Premium or Budget panel.

2. Stop the server.


3. Choose the Open JAR Menu button.


4. Select NeoForge on the left.


5. Toggle the button next to NeoForge. NeoForge for Minecraft Version 1.20.4 is used in this example.


6. Choose what to do with the existing server files.


7. Start the server.


How to Install NeoForge on a Minecraft Server (Manual)
1. Download NeoForge.


2. Launch the NeoForge Installer and select Install Server.


3. Change the install location to a folder on the desktop.


4. Click OK.


5. Once finished, navigate to the folder on the desktop.

6. Depending on the NeoForge version, find the following directory:

libraries\net\neoforged\forge\[version]


libraries\net\neoforged\neoforge\[version]

7. Copy the unix_args.txt file.


8. Find the following directory: libraries\net


9. Paste the unix_args.txt file.


10. Right-click unix_args.txt and click Rename.


11. Input custom_args.txt and press Enter.


12. Return to the root folder.


13. Select all files. Right-click and choose Send to>Compressed (zipped) folder.


14. Minimize the file to use later in the tutorial.

15. Log in to the Bisecthosting Premium or Budget panel.

16. Stop the server.


17. Choose the Open JAR Menu button.


18. Select Custom on the left.


19. Depending on the version, toggle the button next to the following options:

NeoForge for Minecraft 1.20.1-1.20.4 - Custom NeoForge Java 17.jar
NeoForge for Minecraft 1.20.5+ - Custom NeoForge Java 21.jar



20. Choose what to do with the existing server files.


21. Go to the File Manager tab on the left.


22. Choose the Upload button.


23. Drag and drop the .zip file from step 13.


24. Right-click on the .zip file and choose Unarchive.


25. Confirm by choosing the Unarchive button.


26. Start the server.
