How to Make Truffle Oil in Stardew Valley

Posted on by justin
As a farm owner in Stardew Valley, it’s your responsibility to ensure money flows into your pocket. That way, your farm, along with its flora and fauna, thrive. One of the more profitable artisan goods you can sell to help increase your in-game ROI is truffle oil. But the question is, how can you make truffle oil in Stardew Valley?

How to Make Truffle Oil in Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley Truffle Oil As its name implies, Truffle Oil in Stardew Valley needs truffles. But you must also have an Oil Maker to refine that resource into its oil variant.

Harvesting Truffle

Stardew Valley Truffle To harvest truffles in Stardew Valley, first, you'll need some pigs to find them. Once you've got your pigs, truffles can spawn on The Farm when one of your pigs is outside the Barn. The amount of truffles spawned by pigs depends on different factors, including the number of pigs that are out and about. Note that you can’t release pigs in the winter. That means that truffle production will stop during this season. If you need extra truffles, you have the chance to buy the item from the Traveling Cart for 1,875 to 3,125 gold pieces. But the items sold by the Traveling Cart are random, and it may take some time before the NPC sells Truffle. Note: The Traveling Cart appears south of The Farm in Cindersap Forest on Fridays and Sundays during the day. It’ll open at 6 am and close at 8 pm. However, it also appears daily at the Night Market from Winter 15 to 17.

Crafting the Oil Maker

Stardew Valley Oil Maker The crafting recipe for the Oil Maker appears once you reach Farming Level 8. The ingredients to make this interactive structure are:
  • 50x Slime
  • 20x Hardwood
  • 1x Gold Bar
To gather Slime, defeat slimes in the mines, as these enemies are plentiful in that dungeon-like space. Alternatively, you can get slimes from another interactive farm building called the Slime Hutch. As for Hardwood, get this material from chopping mahogany trees. Note that you must use at least a copper axe (for large stumps) or at least a steel axe (for large logs) to gather this resource. Chopping regular trees can also drop Hardwood, albeit only if your character has the lumberjack profession. Finally, make the Gold Bar by smelting 5x Gold Ore in a furnace fed with coal for fuel. An alternate crafting recipe for this particular material is to transmute 2x Iron Bar.

How To Use Truffle Oil In Stardew Valley

Once you've got your Truffle Oil, you can sell it for a whopping 1,065 to 1,491 gold pieces each. On the other hand, you can gift it to many of the game’s NPCs, especially Harvey. But be wary, as Jas, Sebastian, and Vincent hate Truffle Oil. Gifting this item to these NPCs can cause a drop in their relationship level with your character. Other ways to use Truffle Oil in Stardew Valley include using it as an ingredient to make a Rain Totem. You can also use this item in the Sewing Machine to create the Dark Bandana Shirt (as of version 1.4).
