Abigail in Stardew Valley is one of the NPCs that players can marry in the game. But like other Stardew Valley NPCs, befriending Abigail can be tough if you don’t know what to give her as gifts. So, continue reading as we guide you on how to make friends with Abigail properly (and perhaps let that relationship evolve into something more).

Abigail: The Occult Fan

Stardew Valley Abigail Introduced in version 1.0, Abigail is a fan of the occult and will usually spend her time in the graveyard. She also has a habit of going out in a rainstorm, looking for frogs. This behavior leads her parents to worry about her well-being. Abigail’s mom has a dialogue wherein she says, “I wish Abby would dress more appropriately and stop dyeing her hair blue.” But befriending her can provide great rewards for the player. Going forward with that relationship and stepping into married life with her lets Abigail help with various tasks around the farm.

Preferred Gifts of Abigail in Stardew Valley

Stardew Valley players can gift Abigail up to two times per week. Giving an extra gift is possible during her birthday on Fall 13. Note that gifting Abigail will create a reaction, but the response differs depending on the present.
  • Love: “I seriously love this! You’re the best, (character name)!”
  • Like: “Hey, how’d you know I was hungry? This looks delicious!”
  • Neutral: “You brought me a present? Thanks.”
  • Dislike: “What am I supposed to do with this?”

Heart Events

Stardew Valley Abigail Events Players can unlock Heart Events with Abigail when the relationship gauge reaches a specific level. Note that this gauge can go from 0 to 10 hearts. It can extend up to 14 hearts after marriage. Below are the Heart Events players can encounter when players achieve a 2-, 4-, 6-, 8-, and 10-heart relationship with Abigail.

Two-Heart Event

Go to Pierre’s General Store and head inside on any day except Saturday. Once inside, a scene should trigger wherein Abigail is angry about a video game. Fulfill her request to help her until this section ends. Players won’t gain or lose friendship points regardless of the events that transpired during this scene.

Four-Heart Event

Travel to the Mountain biome between 12 pm and 7 pm on a rainy day in any season except winter. Here, the player will see Abigail playing her flute. She’ll then ask what you’re doing in that location. Your answer will either have zero or some positive effect on your friendship level with her.
  • No effect: “Just doing some work.”
  • +50 friendship: “Enjoying the weather.”
  • +10 friendship: “I could ask you the same question.”

Six-Heart Event

Enter Pelican Town from any entrance between 9 pm and 12 am on any day, as long as it’s not raining. Like the 4-heart event, the player’s relationship with Abigail can change depending on the answer provided. In this scene, Abigail will ask if the player has experience using a sword. Your choices and their effects are:
  • -100 friendship: “Yes, but it’s dangerous. You should stay safe.”
  • +10 friendship: “Yes, and it’s exciting!” or “Yes, but only in self-defense.”
  • No effect: “No.”

Eight-Heart Event

Wait until you receive a letter from Abigail saying she’s at Pierre’s General Store. Go to that location between 8 pm and 10 pm. Let the scene play out. You’ll find Abigail visiting you on your farm the day after this scene.

Ten-Heart Event

Give Abigail a Bouquet and enter the mines or the Quarry Mine on any day between 5 pm and 12 am. Here, the player will find a scared Abigail. The next pieces of the dialogue will affect your friendship level with her.
  • +20 friendship: “What happened?”
  • +40 friendship: “Are you okay?”
After a short series of follow-up dialogues, another set of options will appear:
  • -50 friendship: “You’re crying like a little baby. Stop.”
  • +20 friendship: “You’re safe with me.”
  • +40 friendship: “I get scared too.”
Warning: This event won’t trigger if the player has already given Abigail the Mermaid’s Pendant.
