The Dirt Biome

The Dirt biome serves as the entry point for beginners. You’ll start in this area, and the location and its environment should teach you the game’s mechanics.

The Clay Caves Biome

Progress through the Dirt biome, and you may eventually arrive at the Clay Caves. Despite their similar appearances, the Clay Caves have tougher clay walls than those in the Dirt biome. Enemies are also more difficult than in the beginner area.

The Forgotten Ruins Biome

If you don’t wind up in the Clay Caves after exiting the Dirt biome, it’s likely you’re in the Forgotten Ruins. You must have at least a tin pickaxe when you reach this biome. Otherwise, you won’t progress far.
