Once Human Beastmaster Class Guide: Overview, Best Pets to Tame, & More
Posted on by
Once Human Version 2.0 introduced a new class system into the game, one of those was the Beastmaster. As its name implies, choosing this class lets Meta-humans tame animals and make them their pets. But these pets are more than household companions, as they can also help in various tasks, including mining ore and defeating Deviants. So, keep reading to learn more about the Beastmaster class in Once Human.
Once Human players can choose their preferred classes after completing the tutorial. Alternatively, those with characters in various Once Human servers or scenarios can select classes upon starting the game after updating to Version 2.0.
For the Beastmaster, it allows players to communicate with animals in more ways than one. With this class, wild animals don’t run when you get close to them in the wild. Additionally, you can see their thoughts, which can sometimes be quite comedic.
Choosing the Beastmaster class also grants you two starting items: the Beast Whistle and a starting animal. Select the starting animal from your inventory to select from one of three pets: the Boar, bear, or Wolf.
As with other tameable animals in the game, the starting pets have traits to differentiate them from the rest. Here’s a quick rundown of each starting animal:
You’ll know if an animal is tamable by walking up to them and checking its details. Thankfully, the Beastmaster class in Once Human lets you be near animals without spooking them or making them hostile.
Once you’ve chosen your preferred animal to become your pet, hit it until its health is critical. The animal may run away from you, but chasing it down shouldn’t be a significant issue.
Then, attack the injured creature with a type of tranquilizer. If you’re using a crossbow, use a Tranquilizer Arrow, which you can craft using 20x Steel Ingot, 20x Engineering Plastic, 15x Rubber, 10x Log, and 25x Stardust Source. Alternatively, use Tranquilizer Throwing Needles, which use 3x Steel Ingot, 8x Engineering Plastic, 5x Rubber, and 3x Stardust Source. Both items can be crafted at an Immediate or Advanced Supplies Workbench.
As mentioned earlier, each tameable animal has a unique set of traits. It’s also important to mention that each animal has a rarity rating from S to C. S Tier animals have four traits, while C Tier variants only have one.
Below is the list of possible animal traits in Once Human:
Once an animal is tamed, a player can’t summon it anywhere but in a territory or base. Here, you must provide food and water to your pet to increase its Tameness level. Then, wait for its Tameness to reach at least 20% so you can issue commands.
Thankfully, animals aren’t picky when it comes to choosing their water source. In particular, most, if not all, pets drink Dirty, Boiled, or Purified Water. However, things get a little more difficult when it comes to food.
First, players must unlock the Animal Trough building schematics in the Animal Taming in Memetics. Next, build it using 50x Log, 12x Sintered Block, 15x Aluminum Ingot, and 15x Adhesive. With the Animal Trough placed, interact with it to supply food to your pet.
Now, here’s a list of each animal’s preferred diet in Once Human:
Although animal variety in Once Human is fairly large, a few stand out above the rest. For starters, the Boar makes farming resources more efficient and convenient. Players can find this animal and hopefully locate an S Tier variant south of the Winding Ridge Teleportation Tower.
The Bear is also one of the best pets for a Beastmaster in Once Human, thanks to it being a living tank. However, the ideal location to find a pack of bears is to the far west, specifically in a cave in the mountain at northwest Chalk Peak. Fast travel to the Moonlake Teleportation Tower and travel west to find this Bear spawn location.
Select the Wolf, if you haven’t already, for the goodest boy/girl that helps increase DPS. Fast travel to the Blackheart’s Bay Teleportation Tower and head south to find a small pack of wolves.
Finally, there's the Leopard, which isn't one of the choices when selecting the Beastmaster class for the first time. Although slower than the Wolf, this “cat” has a large hitbox, allowing it to effectively hit some floating enemies like those pesky drones. Unfortunately, the Wish Land is the best region to find leopards, specifically between Wish Land – West and Wish Land – East. These areas are quite far, especially if choosing an initial spawn point like Deadsville.
