Once Human: Best Base Locations for PVP & PVE
Posted on by
Choosing the best base location is a crucial strategic decision for any Meta-Human in Once Human. The ideal location should satisfy various requirements, such as providing easy access to resources or defending against other players. So, let's dive into some of the best base locations in Once Human to help you make an informed decision.
It's important to mention beforehand that in the following list of the best base locations in Once Human, the choice ultimately depends on each player's preferences and priorities in PvE, PvP, or other specific reasons. Nonetheless, base transfer is still an option, allowing flexibility as your strategy evolves.
Remember, various actions grant EXP in Nalcott, including gathering resources. With that, one of the best base locations in Once Human is the shoreline in the early-game location, the Dayton Wetlands.
Find this location by near the Overlook Town Teleportation Tower. Here, Meta-Humans can find essential early-game resources, such as Copper and Wood. However, arguably the most abundant material in this area is Salt, which you can get by gathering salt water.
Simply stand in shallow sea water and start gathering. Although the amount of EXP gained from this action is fairly small, it's still a good way to earn additional EXP without constantly traveling and defeating Deviants.
Sometimes, seclusion is the best defense against raiders, especially when you’re playing in a PvP-enabled Once Human server. If so, take advantage of the Chalk Peak’s farthest location, which is also the southwestern-most area of the map at the time of writing.
Aside from being isolated, this potential base location is also rich in various resources, as it’s near the shoreline. With that, Meta-Humans who like the game’s fishing mechanics can spend their hours catching the monsters of the deep in this location.
Additionally, it’s possible to let the area be your natural defense against would-be attackers. In particular, create or place your base in the center of the river, reducing the movement speed of raiders should they wish to invade your headquarters.
Note: The nearest fast-travel point to this location is the South Greenlake Teleportation Tower.
The potential base locations by the beach don't end at Southwest Chalk Peak, as another viable place for your headquarters is at the shoreline in the Broken Delta. Again, you have free access to saltwater in this location. On the plus side, Tin ore nodes spawn in this location, allowing you to upgrade your current gear to their next tiers.
The Hearst Mudflats is also nearby, which can give you random scraps to disassemble. It’s also a good place to farm Fiber and Beryllium Crystal during the game’s early stages.
Another secluded potential base location is atop a cliff at the northwestern-most part of the Blackheart region. This place can be one of the best locations in Once Human for PvP servers, as its natural rock formations make it challenging for raiders to invade.
However, be warned that climbing this location takes time and effort. Additionally, this place is abundant in wood and ore nodes, so you won’t be running out of these materials soon.
Also, many of your enemies would be dismayed to climb this mountain mesa if they attempted to do so. So, construct turrets near the cliff to weed out anyone who would want to challenge the mountain face to reach your base.
This base location may not be ideal for a Meta-Human in a PvP server, as you’ll be exposed to attackers in relatively every direction. However, those in PvE servers can take advantage of this location at the Red Sands region, as it promotes bountiful harvests for various resources, including Copper and Tin ores.
A small body of water is also located nearby to collect Dirty Water. Remember, you can craft Boiled Water at the Stove using 4x Dirty Water, preventing your Meta-Human from dying of thirst.
If resource gathering and management is your top priority in Once Human, then consider this location to be your new home.
Note: The nearest fast-travel point to this location is the West HighbankTeleportation Tower.
Transferring base locations in Once Human is reasonably straightforward. Simply enter Build Mode by pressing “B” on your keyboard (by default for PC players). Then, press “Z” to enter the Transfer Bases mode.
Transferring a base location in Once Human can be done at any time. However, this action has a 2-minute cooldown for each instance. So, you must wait for this cooldown to complete if you want to transfer your base again.
