Demolishers in Factorio 2.0 are formidable foes introduced in the Space Age expansion. These massive, lava-spewing behemoths roam the volcanic landscapes of the planet Vulcanus. While these creatures pose a significant threat to bases, with the right tactics, players can tackle these formidable beasts.

How to Deal with Demolishers in Factorio: Space Age

Factorio 2.0 Demolishers Players can immediately spot Demolishers in Factorio: Space Age as these are large, segmented beings. Think of these creatures as large worms. Additionally, you must kill a Demolisher to claim a specific area in Vulcanus. With that, here are some ways to help you deal with Demolishers in Factorio: Space Age.

Gun Turrets and Land Mines

Factorio Gun Turret Land Mine Note that this method may not be ideal for every Factorio player since it requires you to maneuver away from a Demolisher's attacks. Start by entering a Demolisher's area of responsibility and place various Gun Turrets and Land Mines. Then, attack the Demolisher so it will notice you. Maintain your distance while attacking the creature and luring it to the Gun Turrets and Land Mines, the latter having additional damage since Update 0.15.0. Remember, the Demolisher summons fire pillars that can deal significant damage to your character. Avoid these pillars at all costs. The Demolisher should quickly fall when it steps on the Land Mines, with the Gun Turrets contributing to the DPS. Below are the materials needed to craft a Gun Turret and Land Mine:
Gun Turret
  • Recipe: 10x Copper Plate, 10x Iron Gear Wheel, and 20x Iron Plate
  • Raw Materials: 10x Copper Plate and 40x Iron Plate
Land Mine
  • Recipe: 2x Explosives and 1x Steel Plate
  • Raw Materials: 2x Explosives and 1x Steel Plate

Defender Capsules in Co-Op

Factorio Defender Capsule If you’re playing in a Factorio server with other players, consider using Defender Capsules to deal with Demolishers in Vulcanus. Using a Defender Capsule spawns a Defender Robot, which attacks any enemies in range and has infinite ammo. The plan is to defeat a Demolisher using strength in numbers. In particular, each player that’ll join you in attacking a Demolisher should aim to summon at least 30x Defender Robots. Then, you only need to be near the creature and watch it die in a few seconds. Use the following materials to craft a Defender Capsule:
  • Recipe: 3x Electronic Circuit, 3x Iron Gear Wheel, and 3x Piercing Rounds Magazine
  • Raw Materials: 19.5x Copper Plate, 21x Iron Plate, 3x Steel Plate

Uranium-Powered Tank

Factorio Tank This method to defeat Demolishers after the launch of Update 2.0 typically requires players to gather significant preparation. However, the results are quick and highly effective. First, you must build a tank, which requires the following crafting materials:
  • Recipe: 10x Advanced Circuit, 32x Engine Unit, 15x Iron Gear Wheel, 50x Steel Plate
  • Raw Materials: 50x Copper Plate, 32x Engine Unit, 50x Iron Plate, 20x Plastic Bar, and 50x Steel Plate
Next, craft Uranium Cannon Shells for the tank. Here are the materials to craft this type of ammunition:
  • Recipe: 1x Cannon Shell and 1x Uranium-238
  • Raw Materials: 1x Explosives, 2x Plastic Bar, 2x Steel Plate, and 1x Uranium-238
Once prepared, drive the tank near a Demolisher. Then, fire the Uranium Cannon Shells at the large worm, which should fall fairly fast.
