Will There Be a Minecraft Story Mode Season 3?

Telltale Games has recently reopened, giving fans hope for Minecraft Story Mode season 3, but is this truly a possibility? Today, we answer that question and more based on details that have been publicly released.

Will There Be a Minecraft Story Mode Season 3?

Currently, the answer is no. After Telltale Games went bankrupt in 2018, they lost the licensing rights to Minecraft. Even if they were to reacquire them, season 2 wrapped up the story, leaving little room for continuation outside of a new story arc entirely.

Is It at Least Possible?

However, nothing has been made public to suggest they are. For what little hope it may be worth, their work with Blackbird Interactive for Minecraft Legends shows that they are, at the very least, still open to partnerships.

How to Play Minecraft Story Mode Season 1 and 2

Minecraft Story Mode Season 1: Main Cast Screenshot After losing the licensing rights, Minecraft Story Mode vanished from nearly every platform. This leaves playing it today rather tricky. Below, we have listed a few legal ways to experience the game that are still possible today:
Physical Discs & Cartridges
Fans who are able to get their hands on physical copies of the game will be able to enjoy it on their respective consoles without issue. These options include PS3, Xbox 360, PS4, Xbox One, Wii U, Nintendo Switch, and Windows. For PS3 and Xbox 360 specifically, the “Complete Adventure” copies are required.
Digital Download
Minecraft Story Mode is not available for digital purchase. The only players that can use this option are those who had the game downloaded previously and never uninstalled it. For them, it should work without issue. A working Steam Key is claimed to be the one exception, but the few that remain are hidden among a sea of pricy scams. It is not recommended.
The final option would be watching someone play the game on YouTube. This is not ideal, as it takes away the ability to make the in-game choices yourself, but it is better than nothing.

A Story’s End

While we hope a deal between Mojang and Telltale will be made, the likelihood that it will ever occur continues to fade. But, maybe one distant day, we will find ourselves releasing an article for the announcement of a new season or remaster of the game. Until Next Time, BisectHosting =)
