Not to be confused with the pack of Ancient Seeds, the Ancient Seed can be acquired as early as the beginning of the game, if you’re lucky. Nonetheless, this item can appear from different sources. One practical use of the Ancient Seed artifact in Stardew Valley is to donate it to the Museum. However, Gunther, the NPC who operates the Archaeological Center in Stardew Valley, will give you 1x Ancient Seeds to plant in your farm upon donating 1x Ancient Seed. The NPC will also give you the recipe for Ancient Seeds, which you can craft using 1x Ancient Seed per pack.
Tip: Plating Ancient Seeds allows them to mature into Ancient Fruits, which grow through Spring, Summer, and Fall.
The Ancient Seed is also a liked gift for two Stardew Valley NPCs: Penny and the Dwarf. Other Pelican Town residents dislike this artifact, and giving it to them lowers their friendship levels. Otherwise, as of Update 1.4, use an Ancient Seed in the Sewing Machine to craft the Brown Suit cosmetic item.
