Minecraft Live 2023: What’s Coming in the Minecraft 1.21 Update?

Posted on by amber
Minecraft Live 2023 has come to a close, but not without a mountain of new features being exposed! Today, we explore the Minecraft 1.21 update, its confirmed features as of Minecraft Live, and how you too can give them a try.

Minecraft 1.21: Combat, Adventure, & Tinkering

Minecraft 1.21 Update: Trail Chamber Screenshot While no official name was shared, the Minecraft 1.21 update was confirmed to be focusing on combat, adventure, and tinkering! This could mean many things, including a second combat overhaul, but we will stick to the confirmed details, beginning with the new structure and its unique blocks.

Trail Chambers

Minecraft 1.21 Update: Breeze Mob Screenshot Trail chambers are new procedurally generated structures containing threats that vary each and every time. Their inspiration was stated to be the original dungeon structure, and they hope to recreate the feeling of finding one for the first time. As for what the challenges actually entail, these dungeons will be combat-oriented with a new type of spawner to help up the difficulty. Trail spawners, as they were called during the show, spawn multiple mobs and even scale based on the number of players nearby. However, while their initial threat is far greater, they eventually go on cooldown, marking their portion of the challenge complete. At the dungeon’s end, a grand battle will unfold, complete with a new mob called “Breeze” that can turn the environment against you in addition to the regular mobs being spawned.

New Blocks

Minecraft 1.21 Update: Auto Crafter Screenshot Generating naturally within Trail Chambers and likely craftable are an abundance of new copper blocks, including copper bulbs which provide lighting, copper grates, and what looked like copper doors. Even more exciting, however, was the new crafting table compatible with redstone! The auto crafter does exactly as its name describes, automatically crafting items when powered by redstone. Such an addition will be terrifying in the hands of experienced redstone users! Who knows what’s already cooking in their minds?

New Mobs

Minecraft Armadillo Mob Screenshot The Minecraft 1.21 Update has two confirmed mobs: the breeze mentioned above and the armadillo, winner of the mob vote! The breeze looks like a blaze surrounded by air, and its attacks not only knock players back but activate doors, trap doors, and buttons, making the battlefield theirs to control. Direct hits with their wind blast will also deal damage, all while mobs swarm from every direction. Up on the surface, warm biomes now have a new mob to find! The armadillo will wander about, dropping scute, which can be used to craft wolf armor. Congrats on an astounding 40% of the vote!
