Introduced with an emphasis on adventure at Minecraft Live TwitchCon 2026, Minecraft 26.3 is set to be the fall game drop, packed full of new content that encourages players to get out and explore. So, today, we explore the Minecraft 26.3 update, including the potential Minecraft 26.3 release date, patch notes, and highlights of what’s to come.

Minecraft 26.3 Release Date

Minecraft 26.3 does not yet have an official release date. However, an estimation based on previous fall updates is late September to mid-October. Any later would be cutting into the time they need to develop and release the winter game drop which they tend to have out before the holidays. As for snapshots, none have been released so far. We can likely expect the first to appear in the weeks following June 16, 2026, when Chaos Cubed officially releases.

Update Highlights

Dappled Forests

• Location: Overworld

Dappled Forests are a brand-new cold biome of unending fall, inspired by the autumn forests of Michigan. Inside, players can find poplar trees that have three separate possibilities for leaves, including red, yellow, and orange alongside orange grass, fallen trees with shelf mushrooms, red shrubs, leaf litter, and brown mushrooms. Poplar trees also come complete with a full warm grey wood set.

Abandoned Camps

• Location: Overworld

The abandoned camp is a small overworld structure that, as of writing, appears to be able to generate as part of any land biome. It always contains a tent made of wool stairs, barrels or chests for loot, a copper lantern, and a campfire. Other features, such as small farms, are also possible but they still remain largely unknown. Once the snapshot releases, we will hopefully learn more!

How to Install Minecraft 26.3 Snapshots

As of writing, snapshots are not yet available for 26.3. However, a snapshot installation can be prepared early to ensure everything is ready for as soon as one is released. Below, we have detailed every step needed:

1. Open the Minecraft Launcher and select Java Edition.
2. Enable snapshots under the ‘Installations’ tab.
3. If a new installation called “Latest Snapshot,” represented by a dirt block, is now present, that can be used immediately to start playing. Otherwise, proceed with step four.
4. Click ‘New Installation’
5. Select ‘Latest Snapshot’ in the drop-down menu.
6. Click ‘Install.’

With these steps complete, a new snapshot installation will be available for use and update automatically. Currently, if played, you will find yourself in the upcoming Chaos Cubed update. New releases can corrupt old worlds! Ensure backups have been taken.

How to make Minecraft 26.3 Servers

Minecraft 26.3 servers will be available as soon as the very first snapshot is released! At that point in time, they can be created for free through home hosting, but we recommend paid hosting options for ease of use and performance. Especially with snapshots, as they can be buggy!
