V Rising has no shortage of bosses to test your skills. However, with its full release, this vampire survival action RPG added even more dangerous bosses to the game. One notable boss is Simon Belmont, who many players will recognize from Castlevania. Here we'll cover where you can find Simon Belmont, which items he drops, and how to beat him.Who is Simon Belmont in V Rising?
Simon Belmont in V Rising is the same Simon Belmont from the Castlevania franchise. This legendary vampire hunter arrived in Vardoran with the V Rising 1.0 Update. It’s also important to mention that players don’t need to purchase the Legacy of Castlevania DLC to unlock the Simon Belmont boss fight. As a renowned vampire killer and member of the ancestral vampire-hunting Belmont Clan, Simon Belmont equips the Vampire Killer whip to defeat the Vampire Lord, Count Dracula, and his minions. Since you’re also a being of the night, Simon won’t hesitate to attack you on sight.Simon Belmont the Vampire Hunter Location
Simon Belmont is relentless in his search to defeat every vampire known to man, including the lord of darkness himself, Dracula. This makes this V Blood Carrier different from other V Rising bosses since he walks around the roads of Vardoran, specifically those in the Dunley Farmlands, Farbane Woods, and Silverlight Hills. Thankfully, you can track him down using the game’s V Blood-tracking feature. However, he'll most likely end his travels (albeit temporarily) by stopping at the Colosseum in the Dunley Farmlands. If so, Simon Belmont will fight you by himself rather than with a group of other hostile NPCs.Simon Belmont Attacks and Fight Strategies
Simon Belmont in V Rising is the first V Blood Carrier without a set level. Look at the V Blood Tracker, and you’ll see that the game registered his level as “???." It's also worth mentioning that his place in this tracker is relatively high, so it's safe to assume that his NPC level should be roughly 89. Simon’s attacks and abilities are also reminiscent of his skills in the Castlevania games.Attacks
- Holy Water: Simon throws a Holy Water bottle at your position. Upon impact, the bottle splinters into three smaller containers and creates pools of fire.
- Whip Barrier: Simon furiously spins his whip in the direction he’s facing, preventing any damage. The whip can still deal contact damage during this state.
- Whip Grab: Simon cracks his whip in your direction, pulling you back if you get hit by it.
- Cross Toss: Simon throws a large spinning cross in your direction, which acts like a boomerang, and returns to him after being airborne temporarily.
- Throwing Knives: Simon throws multiple knives or daggers in your direction. Getting hit by this attack also deals fire damage.
- Spinning Axe: Simon throws a spinning axe in your direction. Additionally, the axe creates a small shockwave when it lands.
- Whirlwind Whip: Simon brandishes the Vampire Killer and spins it, creating a massive AoE with him at the center. Getting hit by this attack causes knockback and stun.
- Flame Whirlwind: This attack has a similar range to the Whirlwind Whip, but Simon imbues it with fire to deal extra damage.
- Mending Cross: Mending Cross is Simon's ultimate attack and desperation move. It only occurs when Simon's health is critical. He unleashes four light beams in the shape of a cross with him at the center. Additionally, Simon casts a shield for himself, which regenerates his health and makes him invulnerable. Note that it's possible to destroy the shield before the attack ends.
- Holy Bolts: Simon casts Holy Bolts to rain from the sky immediately after Mending Cross ends.
Fight Strategies, Tips, & Tricks
Since Simon Belmont in V Rising is a late-game boss, expect this fight to be one of the game's tougher challenges. Players must always be on their toes to defeat this boss from Castlevania. Hesitate, and it can be an easy trip back to your coffin. Prepare for this fight by consuming a Fire Resistance Brew and Sun Resistance Brew. The latter is a precaution if the fight takes long enough for the sun to rise. Additionally, equip the best spells, such as Heart Strike, Ward of the Damned, and Ball Lightning, to help enhance your offense and defense. As for weapons, it might be a good idea to equip pistols for this fight. Although you may use melee weapons, getting too close to Simon can be a recipe for disaster. Instead, use firearms, like the Sanguine Pistols, to damage him from afar. That way, you’ll be relatively safe from his whip attacks and throwing items. However, don't be complacent only because you're hitting this boss from a distance. Stop briefly, and Simon may use his Whip Grab attack to pull you.Simon Belmont Loot Table & Rewards
