Palworld Panthalus Capture Guide: Locations, Breeding Combinations, Stats, & More
Posted on by
A whale-looking Pal was teased in a trailer before the release of Palworld V1.0. Now that the game has been fully released, we know the name of this majestic creature – Panthalus. As a legendary being in the Palpagos Islands, dealing with it is no laughing matter. So, keep reading this guide, and we’ll show you how to find and capture Panthalus in Palworld.
Arguably, Panthalus is the most unique Pal in Palworld, since it’s normally impossible to see it in the overworld. Instead, Pal Tamers must complete a quest to summon it. Trigger this quest by traveling to the Deserted Islet west of No Man’s Trail Fast Travel Point, and by talking to the Ancient Civilization Researcher. Fulfilling the objectives for this mission grants players the opportunity to capture this legendary creature for their own.
With that, the steps to summon Panthalus in Palword are as follows:
Echobone #2: East of the Mossanda Forest Fast Travel Point. Again, the Echobone is on the large skeleton structure.
Echobone #3: On the giant skeleton’s skull east of the Eternal Pyre Tower Entrance at Mount Obsidian.
Echobone #4: Travel to the Land of Absolute Zero Fast Travel Point, and then examine the glowing object near the base of the giant skeleton structure’s skull to find the fourth and last Echobone.
Unlike most Pals in Palworld, the only way to hatch a Panthalus is by placing two of the same species in the Breeding Farm. That also means players typically must request help from players on other Palworld servers to borrow their Panthalus for breeding. Alternatively, go through the ordeal of trying to capture
First, prepare for one of the toughest fights you’ll encounter in Palworld. As a boss, Panthalus, the Legendary Ocean King, is a Level 70 foe with a maximum health of 353,220. While some players may think it’s easy to spam their most powerful attacks against it, this majestic yet dangerous creature likes to fly/swim far from land. Doing so makes most grounded Pals relatively useless in this fight.
So, don’t be shy in bringing many consumable items for this fight, as you and your Pals will probably need them. Also, aim to craft and use your most powerful long-range weapon for this fight. A Legendary-tier Multi-Guided Rocket Launcher is ideal if you’re lucky enough to get its schematic from the Oil Rig special chest.
As for Pal choices, your options are limited when dealing with Panthalus. A team of Beakons can be great for taking advantage of their long-range Electric attacks. It’s also a good idea to mount a Univolt to use its Partner Skill, Swift Deity, which converts your attacks to Electric while mounting this Electric Pal.
With preparations complete, summon Panthalus, which warps you to a unique location outside of the Palpagos Islands map. You’ll be on a lonely little island, with the giant flying whale swimming (?) in the background.
Thankfully, Panthalus is passive until provoked. So, catch its attention by hitting it once or twice with a firearm. Then, lead it to the nearby island. However, this massive Water Pal will still be too far away from land, which, again, makes attacks from grounded Pals impractical.
At this point, you can summon your Beakons one by one. Pelt Panthalus with rockets and other ammunition while riding Univolt for that extra Electric damage. Aim for the jewel on its head, as this accessory is the boss's weakpoint.
Panthalus also likes to use its gigantic size in its attacks, making its onslaught difficult to dodge. Nonetheless, you have no choice but to evade these assaults. So, use your stamina wisely, and evade when necessary. Avoid sprinting when it’s not needed.
This fight is long, but not impossible. Throw ANY Pal Sphere once its health is at a critical level, since this Pal’s capture is guaranteed when it's at 1 health point. Note that Phantalus can't be defeated, and its HP stays at 1 until you throw a Pal Sphere. Now, with Panthalus part of your Pal pack, you have one of the best base defenders in Palworld.
Tip: Request help from other Palworld players to help divert Panthalus’s attention when needed.
