Palworld Elements Guide: All Type Weaknesses, Strengths, & Elemental Chart
Posted on by
So, you wanna be a Palworld Master? You wanna capture each one of 'em, right? Well, one of the most fundamental and crucial parts of being a Palworld pro is learning the ins and outs of Pal Elements. Water is strong against fire, yes, but how do Dragon attacks interact against a Pal that is both Ice and Dark? We have the answers for you below, thanks to a handy Palworld elemental chart or two.
As you can see from the elemental chart above, almost every possible element has a weakness in Palworld. In Palworld, these type matchups are described as "Strong Against" in place of "Super Effective," and "Weak Against" in place of "Not Very Effective," which many players will recognize from Pokémon.
As a result of this system, if you're ever having a hard time with a powerful Pal fight, odds are you can use a specific element to give you an advantage.
Again, as the chart highlights, Fire is technically the strongest element. Since it is super effective against not just one but two elements: Grass and Ice. It's worth noting that Neutral is not strong against any element. However, this doesn't make it useless! You can see in the second elemental chart below that some elements do only half as much damage against other elements. Neutral is 100% effective against all elements other than Dark. This makes it a great choice for dealing with Pals of every other element.
It's also worth noting that Pals of the same element do not take less or more damage from Pals of the same element. While you might expect a Fire Pal to deal half as much damage to another Fire Pal, its damage rate does not change.
The most important thing to keep in mind as you adventure through Palworld is growing a diverse team of Pals. You can never be too certain of what wild and powerful Pals you'll encounter on the road. If you have a team with plenty of different elements, you can boost your chances of having an advantage against most foes. Meanwhile, if you know you're going to be targeting a raid, tower boss, or powerful field alpha Pal of a specific element, you can stack your team to consist solely of the element your foe will be weak against. In short, capture every Pal you can!
The final piece of elemental know-how to keep in mind concerns Pals with dual typing. If a Pal happens to be a Grass and Ice Pal, it will receive 400% more damage from a Fire attack. Similarly, if a Pal is an Electric and Grass Pal, it will receive a normal amount of damage from a Ground-type move. Normally, Ground does 200% damage against Electric Pals. However, Ground does only 50% damage to Grass Pals. As a result, the 200% damage is cut in half to deal the (100%) amount of damage the move would normally.
Here's a quick list to remind you of how elemental percentages work:

Dual-Typing & Elemental Percentages
The final piece of elemental know-how to keep in mind concerns Pals with dual typing. If a Pal happens to be a Grass and Ice Pal, it will receive 400% more damage from a Fire attack. Here's a quick list to remind you of how elemental percentages work:
- Element Strong Against Enemy Element: 200% Damage
- Element Weak Against Enemy Element: 50% Damage
- Element Strong Against Two Enemy Elements: 400% Damage
- Element Weak Against Both Enemy Elements: 25% Damage
- Element Strong Against One Enemy Element & Weak Against One Enemy Element: 100% Damage
