Hytale Softwood Farming Guide: Locations, How to Get, & More
Posted on by
Hytale is a procedural world, so where you spawn when starting a new file won't always be the same. What will be the same from game to game is your need for specific materials. One you'll require early on is Softwood. Luckily, this bit of construction material isn't too tricky to find. Take a look below and see how to find and use Softwood in Hytale.
Thankfully, Softwood is commonly found in the Emerald Wilds. This is the basic biome for Hytale, with lush, green grass and hundreds of trees. The trees you need for Softwood, however, are Beech and Aspen Trees. Beech and Aspen are commonly found near one another, and both can be identified by their slightly lighter bark.
If you want to collect any type of tree in Hytale, you need to ensure you have a Hatchet handy. Don't try to cut down a tree with an axe. Axes can only be used as weapons and won't cut down trees. You won't need a fancy Hatchet to cut down Beech or Aspen either. You can craft a Crude Hatchet at any time while exploring Hytale.
Here's the recipe for a Crude Hatchet:
You won't be using Softwood for too many essential tasks in Hytale. Early on, you will need it as the first upgrade to your Farmer's Workbench. Luckily, you don't need much of it, and, of course, either Beech or Aspen logs will do the trick.
Here is the recipe for upgrading your Farmer's Workbench to Tier 2:
