ARK: Survival Evolved Lost Island Map Guide: Resource Locations, Bosses, & Dinos

Posted on by justin
The Lost Island in ARK: Survival Evolved is a free DLC and shouldn’t be confused with the game’s original map, The Island. Here, survivors can encounter various biomes, some unique to this ARK. A unique boss called Dinopithecus King is also on the Lost Island, which you can fight if you’re up to the challenge.

ARK: Survival Evolved Lost Island Map Guide

ARK: Survival Evolved Lost Island The Lost Island in ARK: Survival Evolved is the first community-created map for the game. Developed by Alexand90575037, this ARK officially landed into the ARK: Survival Evolved in December 2021. Survivors who wish to explore this ARK will encounter detailed landscapes, various secrets, and lush biomes. Additionally, below are the environmental features unique to the Lost Island map:
  • A ruined city in the Redwood biome
  • Lava pools and streams similar to those on The Center and Genesis: Part 1 maps
  • Wyvern trenches containing different wyvern species and other creatures
  • A lake with an abundance of Black Pearls

Resource Locations

The Lost Island map is also a haven for those who wish to farm different resources. Here are the materials you can find on this map and the best coordinates to find them:
Crystals
Crystals are advanced resources for craft cooling items like refrigerators and air conditioners. Although you can find these items throughout the Lost Island, the following coordinates should let you collect many Crystals during your visit:
  • 62 LAT, 61 LON
  • 20 LAT, 51 LON
  • 21 LAT, 68 LON
Cementing Paste
Cementing Paste is an essential resource in ARK: Survival Evolved, as you need it to craft different items like the Auto Turret, Cannon, and Vault. Find a good amount of this material by going to 58 LAT, 69 LON. Traverse along the nearby riverside to collect additional Cementing Paste if needed.
Chitin
Use Chitin to craft the armor set with the same name as this material. You can kill certain creatures to farm this material or go to the Waterfall from Hole at 37 LAT, 33 LON.
Silica Pearl
You must dive into the waters of the Lost Island to find Silica Pearls. In particular, go to 35 LAT, 87 LON, and 12 LAT, 43 LON to find these items. Remember, you must have the Scuba gear, or you’ll drown while trying to collect Silica Pearls.
Oil
Although you can find Oil in various areas on the Lost Island, you can find a surplus of this resource in two locations. The first is at 12 LAT, 43 LON, and the other location is at 67 LAT, 12 LON.
Black Pearls
Black Pearls are rare in ARK: Survival Evolved, even on Lost Island. However, you can go to 80 LAT, 32 LON and 59 LAT, 48 LON to farm a decent amount of this material while on this map. You also need the Scuba gear to collect Black Pearls, or you’ll drown.
Obsidian
Thankfully, Obsidian is reasonably easy to find on the Lost Island map than the other ARKs. Search around the volcano and the map’s cave systems to find an abundance of this resource. Alternatively, you can go to 24 LAT, 60 LON and 59 LAT, 48 LON to find clusters of Obsidian for the taking.
Sulfur
Use Sulfur to craft propellants, flamethrowers, and certain taming items. While on the Lost Island map, go to 24 LAT, 60 LON for a good amount of this material.
Silk
Crafting items like whips, tents, and desert armor requires Silk. You can kill Lymantria for this material or go to 83 LAT, 44 LON to harvest it from the white and purple flowers in that area.
Cactus Sap
Find Cactus Sap in cacti at the Lost Island’s desert biome. In particular, you can find several cacti around 88 LAT, 65 LON.

Boss Arena

If you’ve encountered a Dinopithecus, know that the Dinopithecus King is that creature’s bigger and meaner variant. This boss is taller than other massive creatures, such as the Megapithecus and Rex.

First, prepare the tribute items listed below. Then, interact with one of the Obelisks on the Lost Island to sacrifice these items. If successful, you’ll be transported to the Dinopithecus King arena.

Combat
After loading into the boss arena, go down the path until you can see a beach to the left. Next, you’ll go through a short tunnel leading to the boss fight arena. At this point, make the necessary preparations before engaging with the boss. If it detects you, the Dinopithecus King will jump from its cliff. Then, it’ll call waves of Dinopithecus to assist him. Proper positioning is essential for this fight. You’re at risk of dismounting from your mounted creature if this boss hits you with its slamming attack. If the Dinopithecus King is successful, he’ll likely follow up with another attack, ending this boss fight sooner than later. Also, bring tames like the Mantis, Deinonychus, and Therizinosaur to quickly inflict as much damage as possible on the Dinopithecus King. Note that the longer this fight goes on, the more challenging it gets. This boss can inflict a damage-over-time attack on tames, which can hurt as the battle progresses.

The Dinopithecus King only drops three items regardless of the difficulty setting. The loots you can receive from killing this boss are the following:
