In Valheim, capes are a great way to give yourself an extra bit of flair and some powerful buffs for combat and traversal. Valheim Capes Guide: Every Cape, Stats, & How to Get Them

As of Valheim update 1.0, there are 11 different capes in the game that you can craft. Some, like the Deer Hide Cape, can be made in no time after starting a new game. Others, like the Ashen Cape, will take plenty of hard work to acquire before they can grace your shoulders. Capes primarily serve as additional armor pieces. In Valheim, you can equip a helmet, a chest piece, leggings, and a cape. While the cape will always offer the least amount of armor of these four categories, more armor is more armor! It's always good to have as much additional defense as possible while exploring the hostile realm of Valheim. The best part of capes is that they offer additional armor while being very lightweight. Earlier capes will only offer a bit of extra padding, but some capes will also offer powerful buffs. The Asksvin Cloak, for example, reduces the amount of stamina you use when dodging. Meanwhile, the Feather Cape actually makes you immune to fall damage! This makes the Feather Cape a must-have when exploring particularly hilly and mountainous terrain like the Mistlands. Finally, capes are also for show! If the stats don't matter to you that much, capes are a great way to give your Viking survivor a bit more personality. The Linen Cape is great for this. This cape comes in six colors: Red, Blue, Green, Yellow, White, & Black. You can change its color by selecting the "Style" option when interacting with the cape at a Workbench.
