Terraria Event Calendar 2023: All Seasonal Events, Special Rewards, & more

Posted on by justin
Events in Terraria automatically activate when the game detects the system’s date. These instances also mimic their real-world counterparts, albeit with touches of Terraria mixed into enemy, item, and NPC designs. So, keep reading as we guide you through the Terraria event calendar for 2023 and what's in store!

Terraria Event Calendar 2023

Terraria Event Calendar At the time of writing, most seasonal events in Terraria only work on the game’s Windows Mobile and 3DS versions. Also, don’t confuse the events listed below with Terraria’s invasions. The latter often involves waves of enemies attacking you after an in-game trigger. So, here are the events in Terraria that appear in the game chronologically.

Valentine’s Day

Feel the love from February 1 to 28 (or 29 if it’s a leap year), as this period is Valentine’s on the Terraria event calendar. During this time, new items appear that you can purchase and find on the game’s map. These items are the following:
  • Heart Arrow: Buy from the Merchant for 50 Copper Coins each. It has 4 base damage with a 4% critical hit chance and a chance to stun hit enemies.
  • Valentine’s Ring: Buy from the Merchant for 1 Gold Coin. It increases jump height and adds 50% to health regeneration.
  • Broken Heart: Mine gems in underground levels for a chance for this item to appear. Use it to summon a non-attacking Cupid pet.

St. Patrick’s Day

In Terraria, St. Patrick’s Day activates from March 5 to 31. For this event, you can get Rainbow Pieces that fall from the sky (akin to Fallen Stars). Collect five Rainbow Pieces to craft the Pot O’ Gold item, which summons the non-attacking pet Leprechaun o’Fyffe.

Easter

Easter-themed monsters and items arrive in Terraria for the entire month of April. For the enemies, the Diseaster Bunny and its boss variant, Lepus, hop into the game. Killing Diseaster Bunnies will drop the Bunny Hood and Suspicious Looking Egg items. Using the Suspicious Looking Egg will summon Lepus. Killing it will drop the Ninja Hood, Ninja Shirt, Ninja Pants, Soul of Might, and Lesser Healing Potion. But it also drops other Easter-themed items.
  • Egg Cannon: A ranged weapon with 16 base damage and a 4% critical hit chance. It shoots bullets for ammo with sprites in the form of Suspicious Looking Eggs.
  • Boots of Otsara: Equipped in the Pants slot, this item provides 3 base defense and gives the wearer the ability to perform bunny hops.

Oktoberfest

Oktoberfest runs from September 27 to October 31. During this period, the Clothier and Merchant NPCs sell unique items based on the event’s real-world counterpart. These items are:
  • Alpine Hat: A vanity item that you can buy from the Clothier for 80 Silver Coins.
  • Dirndl Blouse: A vanity item that you can buy from the Clothier for 1 Gold Coin.
  • Dirndl Skirt: A vanity item that you can buy from the Clothier for 1 Gold Coin.
  • Lederhosen: A vanity item that you can buy from the Clothier for 1 Gold Coin.
  • Lederweste: A vanity item that you can buy from the Clothier for 1 Gold Coin.
  • Oktober Locks: A vanity item that you can buy from the Clothier for 80 Silver Coins.
  • Wiesnbräu: A consumable buff potion you can buy from the Merchant for 9 Silver Coins and 95 Copper Coins. Consume it to obtain the Drunk debuff, which reduces the damage taken and dealt by half.
Also, Pumpkins grow on grass from the start of Oktoberfest to the end of the game’s Halloween event.

Halloween

Unlike the other seasonal events in the Terraria event calendar, Halloween is available on the game’s console, mobile, and 3DS versions. However, this event’s duration differs based on your platform of choice.
  • Console and mobile: October 10 to November 1
  • Windows Mobile: October 20 to November 10
  • Nintendo 3DS: October 1 to November 10
This time, spooky-themed enemies and items appear in different places on the map. For instance, Bunny Slimes appear on the surface during the day. At night, the denizens of the night show up on the surface. The enemies you’ll encounter at nighttime are:
  • Nurse Zombie
  • Superhero Zombie
  • Pixie Zombie
  • Owl Eye
  • UFO Eye
  • Raven
  • Hoppin’ Jack (Hardmode)
Shaking the forest trees also has a chance for a Raven or a Rotten Egg to appear. Then, travel underground to find additional Halloween-themed enemies, which are the following:
  • Groom Skeleton
  • Astronaut Skeleton
  • Martian Skeleton
  • Ghost
  • Slime Bunny (Critter)
Defeating enemies can also drop Candy Apples and Soul Cakes. However, these items are only re-skinned versions of Hearts and Mana Stars. But you can also get Goodie Bags from defeating enemies, giving you random Halloween-themed items, such as weapons, furniture, and vanity sets. Two new weapons can also drop from enemies during this event. These items are:
  • Bloody Machete: A boomerang-type weapon with 20 base damage, 5 knockback, and 4% critical hit chance.
  • Bladed Glove: A melee weapon with a shorter range than most blades but with a fast attack speed. It has 14 base weapon damage, 4 knockback, and 4% critical hit chance.
Foraging around Forest grass also has a chance to give you Pumpkins, which can give you Magical Pumpkin Seeds. Then, interact with some NPCs for special time-limited items they’re offering during this seasonal event. The items you can purchase are:
  • Nurse Set: Vanity items you can buy from the Nurse for a total of 9 Gold Coins for the entire set.
  • Guy Fawkes Mask: A vanity item you can buy from the Clothier for 3 Gold Coins.
  • Clothier’s Set: Vanity items you can buy from the Clothier for a total of 6 Gold Coins for the entire set.
  • Cyborg Set: Vanity items you can buy from the Cyborg for a total of 9 Gold Coins for the entire set.
  • Dryad Set: Vanity items you can buy from the Dryad for a total of 6 Gold Coins for the entire set.
  • Dye Trader’s Set: Vanity items you can buy from the Dye Trader for a total of 6 Gold Coins for the entire set.
  • Tax Collector’s Set: Vanity items you can buy from the Merchant for a total of 9 Gold Coins for the entire set.
  • Sickle: A tool that can cut grass to obtain hay you can buy from the Merchant for 60 Silver Coins. It has 9 base weapon damage, 2.25 knockback, and 4% critical hit chance.
  • Steampunk Goggles: A vanity item you can buy from the Steampunker for 3 Gold Coins.
  • Cauldron: A crafting station you can buy from the Witch Doctor for 1 Gold Coin and 50 Silver Coins.
  • Wizard’s Hat: A vanity item you can buy from the Steampunker for 3 Gold Coins.

Thanksgiving

In Terraria, Thanksgiving runs from November 1 to 30. During this period, you can buy the Turkey Feather item from the Merchant. Using it grants a buff that’ll make enemies drop Cursed Stuffing by chance. Using the Cursed Stuffing summons the event-themed boss Turkor the Ungrateful. Defeating it drops the Horn o’ Plenty healing item, which heals 120 health for each use. Note that this item is unlike regular potions since you won’t consume the Horn o’ Plenty upon use. But your character will still have Potion Sickness when using it.

Christmas

Like Halloween, the Terraria Christmas event is available for all system versions of the game. It’s also the first seasonal event introduced in Terraria. Note that the event’s duration differs for the game’s Nintendo 3DS version. In particular, Christmas in Terraria on the 3DS begins on December 1 and ends on January 15. But other systems will have the event from December 15 to 31. The enemies and items appearing on Christmas are the same as those completing the Frost Moon invasion. But the difference is that finishing the invasion only grants 24 hours of Christmastime than the seasonal event. You’ll see slimes with bows during the day and zombies wearing Christmas attire at night. You can also receive Candy Canes, Sugar Plums, and Presents from defeating enemies while the Christmas event is active. Christmas-themed items from the Painter, Clothier, Demolitionist, and Traveling Merchant are also available for purchase during this period.

How to Trigger a Seasonal Event in Terraria Manually

Terraria Trigger Event Terraria players can wait for the event calendar to land on their preferred seasonal event themselves, but they don't have to. Instead, it's also possible to manipulate your system’s clock to trigger the preferred event early. Note that the steps to change the date depend on the system used.
  • PC: Go to your System Settings, search and select Date & Time, and change the date from there.
  • Nintendo 3DS: Go to “System Settings” and set the new date.
  • PlayStation and Xbox: Disconnect from the Internet, go to the console’s settings, and change the date and time.
