Durasteel in Starbound comes in two forms: Durasteel Ore and Durasteel Bar. The former is a mineable material, while the latter is the craftable variant. Keep reading, and we’ll guide you in farming these two forms of Durasteel in Starbound.

How to Farm Durasteel in Starbound

When you're looking to gather Durasteel, first, you must gather Durasteel Ore to refine it into its bar variant. Durasteel Ore typically spawns on planets with Dangerous (Tier 4) or Extreme (Tier 5) threat levels. One way to find this ore fast on those planets is by using an Ore Detector, which you can craft at the Agricultural Station using the following materials:

• 4x AA Battery
• 5x Refined Ferozium
• 5x Refined Violium
• 5x Refined Aegisalt
• 6x Copper Wire

Once crafted, use the Ore Detector to send a pulse that reveals nearby ores. Be on the lookout for a dark purple highlight as it indicates the location of the Durasteel Ore. Alternatively, check out the various traders on the Outpost. Some of these NPCs may sometimes sell Durasteel Ore as well. Jungle planets with Floran villages and Rebel Apex camps may also have containers with Durasteel Ores. Make sure to bring a Radiation EPP to become immune to deadly radiation when exploring planets with this hazard that was added to the game in the Cheerful Giraffe update (also called Version 1.0). Once you've gathered Durasteel Ore, you can refine two into one Durasteel Bar in an Atomic or Industrial Furnace.
