Rabbits are one of the best mobs a player can have, being both adorable as pets and a great source of resources should that be preferred instead. So, today, we explore all there is to know about the rabbit, including its secret variants, in our Minecraft Rabbit Guide.

An Introduction to Rabbits

  • Health: 1.5 Hearts
  • Behavior: Passive
  • Favored Foods: Dandelion, Carrot, & Golden Carrot
Rabbits are a passive mob that spawns naturally across multiple biomes (listed below) in six unique variants. They can be tempted towards a player with dandelions, carrots, and golden carrots or led with leads. Rabbits are also one of the few mobs in the game to have natural predators in the form of untamed wolves and foxes, who will attempt to kill them on sight. For this reason, caution is recommended while transporting or building enclosures for rabbits.

Rabbits have three drops within their loot table, including their hide, meat, and foot. Four of their hides can be crafted into a single leather, while their meat can be cooked to restore five hunger and six saturation upon consumption. A single foot can also drop, and while it has no crafting recipe, it can be used to brew potions of leaping or restore health to camel husks.

Breeding

Minecraft Rabbits Hearts Screenshot When a rabbit is fed a dandelion, carrot, or golden carrot, it will enter love mode and search for another rabbit in love mode. Upon making contact, a single baby will spawn between them. Baby rabbits reach adulthood after 20 minutes, but this time can be shortened by feeding them dandelions, carrots, or golden carrots.
