Be it by wandering traders, pillagers, or people unknown, someone is leaving behind camps across the overworld. So, today, we explore the remnants they have left behind in our Minecraft abandoned camps guide.

What Are Minecraft Abandoned Camps?

Added in Minecraft 26.3, abandoned camps are a structure that can generate across many biomes with an abundance of slight differences. Beginning with what remains consistent, every camp includes a tent made of wool stairs, storage in the form of either a barrel or chest block filled with loot, and a campfire. Cushions, straw beds, and lanterns are also very common but not guaranteed to be present. From there, the variants number in the hundreds. They can be overgrown with biome-specific blocks, have ponds, farms, spider web-filled crevices, and even hidden copper chests with extra loot.

Where to Find Abandoned Camps

Abandoned camps can generate in an astounding 18 biomes, complete with variants to match each one. These biomes include:

• Cherry Groves
• Dappled Forests
• Flower Forests
• Forests
• Meadows
• Old Growth Birch Forests
• Old Growth Pine Taigas
• Old Growth Spruce Taigas
• Pale Gardens

Sadly, a biome is not guaranteed to contain an abandoned camp, nor are there any special vanilla methods for finding one outside of exploring. This makes finding an abandoned camp in an already rare biome, such as a cherry grove, all the harder. Hopefully someday they add villager maps to make it easier! Abandoned Camp Loot Tables

Abandoned Camps have three separate loot tables consistent across all biomes for barrels, chests, and secret copper chests. A barrel, common chest, or sometimes both will always be easily visible and present within a camp. The secret copper chest, on the other hand, can be completely buried, assuming it is present at all.
