We've all been there. We're adventuring through Embervale, we come across some Fell enemies, and suddenly we're afflicted with the Fell Curse. It's a nasty little debuff, and it can cut your adventuring short if you're not careful. Don't worry! In this guide, we'll tell you exactly how the Fell Curse in Enshrouded works and how to cure it. Let's get started!

What is the Fell Curse in Enshrouded?

Enshrouded Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic screenshot In case you haven't had the misfortune of being afflicted by the Fell Curse before, here is how it works: you slowly build up the Fell Curse as you are attacked by and as you defeat Fell enemies. These are any foes you encounter within the Shroud or Shroud-covered areas. You can often identify Fell foes by a glowing blue aura. What does the Fell Curse do? It reduces the amount of time you can spend in the Shroud. Any time you enter the Shroud, a timer will appear on your screen. This lets you know how much time you have left before the Shroud tears you apart. You won't slowly take damage when the timer runs out while you're in the Shroud, you'll be instantly annihilated. To make things even worse, the Fell Curse will only continue to build as you fight more Fell creatures. In fact, the Fell Curse persists after death. Without a cure, the Fell Curse is permanent.

How to Cure the Fell Curse

Finding the Alchemist

Luckily, there is a cure! The Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic can completely reset your Shroud timer so that you're good as new! It also gives you a buff that prevents the curse from affecting you for a full hour after consumption! As you can imagine, this is a highly valuable consumable. So, getting it will take a bit of doing. First, you'll need to find and save the game's Alchemist: Balthazar. He is located inside the Ancient Vault in the western reaches of the Springlands. If you head to the Springlands Ancient Spire, look to the west for a smattering of dark buildings. Head in that direction, and you should reach a village known as Harvest Homestead. From here, follow a paved road into the mountains. You should eventually find some Scavengers outside the Ancient Vault. Dispatch them, head inside, and clear the vault of any further threats. Within the vault you'll find a strange glowing pod. Interact with it to reveal Balthazar inside to save them. Head back to your base, summon your new Alchemist friend, and speak with them to get a quest called "A Cure for the Fell Curse." This will give you the recipe you need for crafting a Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic.

Crafting a Fell Curse Cleansing Tonic

Here is the recipe:
  • Water: 1
  • Fresh Shroud Spore: 2
They craft instantly, and you don't even need a workshop or NPC. You can craft these from you inventory whenever you want! Water is easy to find, but those Fresh Shroud Spores can be tricky if you don't know where to look. First, these rare spores only spawn at night. Second, you'll know you've found them thanks to their blueish glow and the fact that they're often guarded by Fell enemies. Unfortunately, they can spawn in any biome throughout the world. However, they don't spawn in shrouded terrain and their spawns aren't procedurally-generated. This means you can find them in the same spot, respawning over and over once you've found them once. If you're still having trouble finding one of these spots, we recommend heading to the Springlands Ancient Spire once again. Again, make sure it's night time, and walk to the the spire's southern ledge. Look down, and you should see a cluster of blue glowing spores and Fell enemies. Slay the monsters, gather your spores, craft a tonic, and drink your Fell Curse troubles away!
