The fourth major update for Arrakis is on the horizon, but it remains shrouded in mystery. The live-service roadmap for Dune: Awakening extends into 2026, suggesting the imminent arrival of the Chapter 4 update. While developer Funcom keeps the official details of these updates behind closed doors, we've gathered everything you can expect, including its release date window and potential new inclusions per the game's roadmap!

Dune: Awakening Chapter 4: Release Date Window

Dune Awakening Chapter 4 While we don't have an exact release date for Dune: Awakening Chapter 4 just yet, Funcom published a roadmap that places the fourth major update in the April to June 2026 window. With that, it’s possible that the Chapter 4 Update will be released between late May and early June 2026. This period aligns with the end of the Q2 2026 window mentioned in the roadmap.

What's Coming in Chapter 4? (Unofficial Patch Notes)

Main Story Continuation
Dune: Awakening players should expect a continuation of the game’s central narrative with the release of Chapter 4. This follow-up could introduce additional iconic factions, such as the Fremen, as hinted at by the roadmap. In particular, the 2026 roadmap points to “new missions and deeper Landsraad integration,” which includes faction-specific quests. These missions might be tied to a revamped reputation system, such as spying for the Atreides or sabotaging Harkonnen operations.
The Polar Cap
Initially thought to be included in Update 1.4 and the Water Wars DLC, Funcom decided to pull back on the release of the Polar Cap. With that, this new region may appear in future updates, possibly even as part of Chapter 4. This new land may introduce fresh survival mechanics, such as hypothermia. Doing so adds a fresh layer of environmental danger that players in Dune: Awakening servers must adapt to in order to survive in this already harsh world.
Quality-of-Life (QoL) Improvements
Funcom has consistently committed to community feedback since the release of Dune: Awakening on compatible gaming platforms. The Dune: Awakening Chapter 4 Update should come with various requested QoL changes, including the ability to rename vehicles and storage containers. It’s also possible that players may soon enjoy other meaningful improvements. These enhancements may include a vehicle salvaging system to recover lost ornithopters, improved inventory tracking, and an option to toggle between PvP and PvE modes on the fly.
