When you think of pirates, you might think of cutlasses and flintlock pistols. True, there's plenty of those in Windrose, but there's also the massively effective Plague Halberd, giving players a nice range of combat builds to explore. This mighty weapon is one of the best tools in the game, perfect for a long-reaching frontline build. Thanks to its powerful magic and superb damage output, we recommend it to any pirate seeking to make a name for themselves on the seas. Here, we'll show you exactly how to get it, its stats, and more!

How to Get the Plague Halberd in Windrose

Windrose Plague Halberd in Combat screenshot Like many other weapons and tools in Windrose, you have to find the Plague Halberd before you can make one yourself. Unfortunately, this weapon is a rare spawn. You'll have the best luck finding it as you explore the Tainted Forest within the Cursed Swamps. Here, you need to do your best at finding Old Skeleton chests. The best POIs for this are Ruins with a Flowerbed, Tainted Ruins, or Crypts. Just keep searching and hope for the best! When you find it, it's more likely to drop as a Rare item than an Epic one. However, you can always ascend it to an Epic quality weapon at a Weaponsmith Workshop. You'll also learn the recipe for crafting one yourself once you finally find it. Here's what you need to craft a Plague Halberd of your own once you have the recipe:
  • Wood: 10
  • Ingot Arborum: 5
  • Copper Ingot: 3
And if you want to ascend it, you'll need the following:
  • Plague Halberd: 1
  • Tumbaga Ingot: 9
If you can't find the weapon in your regular gameplay, it can be effectively "handed off" as a discovery by any player you play with in a multiplayer server, something a portion of the community participates in to share the ability to craft the rarest weapons.

Plague Halberd Stats

The Plague Halberd can be useful in one-on-one combat, but it truly shines in scenarios with hordes of foes. That's thanks to its effect and special attack. Each time you deal damage with the Plague Halberd, you'll gain a stack of Plague Echoes. Once you have five stacks, you can unleash the special attack. This causes barbed plants to erupt from the ground in an AoE explosion. This will also restore 35% of your maximum health. If you're surrounded by a gang of foes, swinging the Plague Halberd can quickly give you a handful of the Plague Echoes buff. Then, you can blast all of those baddies away with your special attack and repeat the process. You might not even need to have that many potions to keep yourself in the fight! Keep in mind that you can use the special attack with a Rare version of the weapon, but the special attack will only restore your health if it's an Epic Plague Halberd. Here are all of the Plague Halberd's noteworthy stats and effects as an Epic drop:
  • Attack: 380
  • Crude Damage: 355
  • Effect: Dealing Damage grants you a stack of Plague Echoes effect. At 5 stacks, the special [F] attack becomes available.
  • Epic Only Effect: Using the special attack instantly restores 35% of your maximum health.

Best Plague Halberd Build in Windrose

Windrose Plague Halberd Inventory screenshot While the Plague Halberd is good at restoring your health, you'll want appropriately tanky gear. The name of the game with the Plague Halberd is crowd control and reach to cleave crowds. While a few points into Endurance are a good idea, you'll want to be as tanky as possible. This means Vitality and Strength should have more of your focus with this build. Here is the list of Armor, Accessories, Consumables, and Stat & Talent Distribution that we recommend using to maximize the Plague Halberd's effectiveness:
