In Windrose, it's not all about looting, swashbuckling, and shooting. A good pirate adventure has quests, and Mystery of the Expedition is one that builds up suspense for the game's future lore. Want to know how to get it done? We have the answers for you here in our guide.

Windrose Mystery of the Expedition Walkthrough Guide

  • First things first: to start the Mystery of the Expedition quest in Windrose, you need to interact with one of three Old Graves scattered around the world map. It doesn't matter which one you touch first, as you'll receive the quest and its details after interacting with one of them. Additionally, after interacting with this first Old Grave, you'll have to fight an Alpha Wolf that will spawn nearby. To make the fight as easy as possible, you'll want to be around level 14 with plenty of healing potions and some good gear.
  • With the wolf dispatched, your next step is to find and interact with the other two Old Graves. Unfortunately, everyone's Windrose game is procedurally generated. As a result, there's no good indication of where to find these Old Grave sites. You'll simply have to explore from island to island until you can locate them.
  • Luckily, the next leg of the quest, after you've found all of the Old Graves, is much easier. You'll now need to find an old, forgotten shipwreck from this mysterious expedition. Its location is then marked on your map, and you can head straight there. On the ship, you'll have to search around for the captain's quarters. In there, you'll find the final resting place of a now skeletal Juan de la Cosa. Interact with these remains, and finish the Mystery of the Expedition quest!

Mystery of the Expedition Rewards

Windrose Broken Ancient Medallion image Unfortunately, you won't be getting many valuables by completing the Mystery of the Expedition quest. Not exactly what a treasure-seeking pirate wants to hear. However, the main reward for completing the quest has some interesting ties to Windrose lore. Once you complete the quest, you'll receive the Broken Ancient Medallion. It can't be sold, but it bears a striking resemblance to the Broken Heirloom Medallion you receive after the early quest "How My Shore Adventure Began" is completed. That medallion, as its description reads, was left to your character by their father. So, what does it mean that this mysterious expedition had another medallion just like your old man's? These are some mysteries without answers so far, but hopefully, more information will be revealed as Windrose continues to be updated in Early Access.
