Windrose: How to Get the Boar Whistle & Mighty Boar Whistle
Posted on by
Are you and your friends tired of being an average pirate crew? If you're looking to spice things up in Windrose and add a unique, extra member to your posse, you can always nab a Boar Whistle. This handy tool will allow you to summon a pudgy, porcine pal to your side to help you in battle. Want to know how to get one? We've got all the answers for you below.
Finding specific items in Windrose can often be tricky due to the game's procedural generation. Luckily, a Boar Whistle is always available at the Ancient Village POI in the Foothills. Once you've found the Foothills, you can identify the Ancient Village on your map by three pieces of wheat.
In the Ancient Village, you'll find three different piles of ruins. They're set apart from one another, but each has a pot of Ritual Oil hidden within. Your mission is to take these three pots to the altar in the center of the Ancient Village. Of course, it won't be too easy! Level 8 wolves will be pestering you along the way, so be prepared to fight and keep yourself alive. You'll also need 20 Meat to get a hold of that Boar Whistle, so killing all those wolves can help you along.
The ruins themselves are small, and you can happen upon the Ancient Chests that hold each Ritual Oil pot simply by walking through each portion of the ruins. Once you've got all three pots and 20 Meat, head to the village center altar. You can easily identify it by its enormous, creepy statue. Interact with the statue, hand over your offerings, and voila! One Boar Whistle just for you!
However, there is another Boar Whistle to be found in Windrose. The Mighty Boar Whistle is a slightly more powerful version of the wild pig-summoning instrument. However, it's not as straightforward to find. Like the normal Boar Whistle, it's only available within the Foothills. This time, however, you're looking for an Ancient Farms POI. Like the Ancient Village, you can identify this with three pieces of wheat on your map.
There's no ritual this time around. All you need to do is find an Ancient Chest. This particular Ancient Chest will have the Mighty Boar Whistle inside 100% of the time. However, finding this chest can be tricky. It doesn't have a fixed location. That means you need to turn the Ancient Farms upside down to find it. Make sure you have a pickaxe for breaking through dilapidated walls, plots of fertile soil, and leave none of the Foothills Islands unexplored.
Whether you have a Boar Whistle or a Mighty Boar Whistle, the effect is largely the same. Equip it, use it, and a friendly boar will arrive at your side. The key difference between the two whistles is that the Mighty Boar Whistle summons a slightly stronger boar. However, each boar is useful in combat.
Once they've been summoned, the boar will fight at your side. They deal a decent amount of damage, but the big appeal is giving your enemies something else to occasionally focus on during battle. The ability to have your strongest adversaries look somewhere else while you get a few hits in is incredibly valuable. That makes either form of the Boar Whistle a perfect fit into any Windrose build.
