Terraria Extractinator Guide: How to Get, Uses, Crafting Recipes, & More
Posted on by
Are you wondering if you can transform some items into something more useful? The answer lies in the Extractinator, a structure that transmutes certain blocks into gems, money, and even pet-summoning items! So, let us help you find and use the Extractinator in Terraria as you continue reading this guide.
Travel to the cavern and underground layers of your Terraria world seed for a chance to find the Extractinator. Specifically, this structure may appear inside Wooden Crates, or in Frozen and Gold Chests. These chests, in particular, have a higher chance of spawning the Extractinator than breaking Wooden Chests open. It’s also possible to find an Extractinator in cabins at the Underground Desert biome, albeit rarely.
One guaranteed way to get the Extractinator in Terraria is by creating the world seed using the following code: 1.4.1.0.1086349912. Once loaded, travel west, and go past the small lake. Stop at the bone pile next to the large tree. Here, use your preferred pickaxe or digging tool to dig southeast.
You should appear next to a small treasure room. Loot the chests, if you desire, and continue forward until you reach a long flight of stairs. Go down the stairs until you reach the bottom. Again, use your preferred pickaxe or digging tool and dig southeast. This time, you should be in the mushroom caverns.
Continue to dig directly south to reach another open space. Dig further south to reach yet another open space. You’ll know when you reach the correct one if you see two adjacent Gold Chests. Open the left Gold Chest to get the Extractinator.
After placing the Extractinator onto a viable surface, equip certain blocks and use the Use/Attack button to place it into the structure. Note that your character must be within a 3x3 frame of the Extractinator for the action to work. Do so to get random items from it.
It’s also important to mention that feeding blocks into the Extractinator in Vanilla Terraria is the only way to get the pet-summoning item, Amber Mosquito. By extension, acquiring that item is the only possible method of getting the Baby Dino pet.
Additionally, most items produced by the Extractinator can be found in pre-Hardmode. The structure won’t produce any Hardmode items, such as Cobalt Ore, Mythril Ore, and Chlorophyte Ore, even when placed in a Hardmode world seed. For that, as of Update 1.4.4, use the upgraded variant, the Chlorophyte Extractinator, which you can craft using 1x Extractinator and 18x Chlorophyte Bar at the Mythril or Orichalcum Anvil.
Below are the blocks you can use with the Extractinator in Terraria, along with the possible items that can appear:
