Rust September 2026 Wipe: Release Date, Patch Notes (Unofficial), Confirmed Features, & More
Posted on by
The Rust community is once again packed with the usual question, “When wipe?” With that, the upcoming Rust September 2026 Wipe is almost here, and it brings a fresh reset, along with a wide range of gameplay changes. So keep reading to learn what you need to know before the servers go down.
The September 2026 Rust Wipe and its included update launches on Thursday, September 3, 2026. Following developer Facepunch Studios’s tradition, players should expect the update to happen at about 19:00 UTC (which translates to 2:00 PM EST / 11:00 AM PT). During this period, Rust players won’t be able to access their characters, world seeds, and servers. Community Rust servers may follow Rust’s official wipe schedule, while others may decide to hold off until a later date.
Unlike previous patches, the Rust September 2026 Update is shaping up to be more of a gameplay refresh than a content-heavy expansion. In particular, this update highlights changes affecting various elements, including model updates, base upkeep, and monument progression.
Arguably, one of the biggest changes is the group-scaled Tool Cupboard (TC) upkeep. Smaller groups may avoid the added tax. However, larger clans might need to pay progressively as additional players are connected to a base. Doing so could make large-group compounds significantly more expensive to maintain.
Another notable addition is the Medical Honey Bandage, a Tier 1 healing option that can restore health immediately. It also provides extra healing over time and reduces bleeding. New players can take advantage of this valuable healing item, as it bridges the gap between the basic bandage and a stronger medical consumable.
This update also introduces another way of getting High Quality Metal (HQM). After the September 2026 forced server wipe, the update generates rare HQM nodes and ground pickups throughout the map.
Moreover, players should experience slowed Red Keycard progression due to temporary monument blockades placed next to red-card rooms. Destroying these hindrances is possible with explosives. Alternatively, it’s possible to simply wait for the structure to decay, though it may take a significant amount of time.
Finally, helicopters and hot air balloons will see their durability decline in stages. This damage-over-time starts after the cabin receives sustained fire, which can expose players over time.
Rust’s latest patch also includes numerous smaller changes. For instance, players can expect updated loot crate visuals, grenade stack reductions, and improved event crate persistence.
