Minecraft Netherite Armor Guide: How to Get in Five Easy Steps
Posted on by
Netherite armor may seem like a distant dream, but with a little help, obtaining it can be easily achieved. So, today, we explore how to get netherite armor in five easy steps.
Before our journey to netherite armor can begin, a few diamonds will be needed to craft some prerequisite items. The first is a diamond pickaxe, requiring three diamonds and two sticks, while the second is twenty-four diamonds for a full set of diamond armor. The pickaxe will be used to mine ancient debris, while the armor will eventually become our netherite armor.
While not required, we recommend also enchanting the diamond armor before proceeding. Any enchantments on the diamond armor will carry over when it becomes netherite. Finally, while a fortune three enchantment on the diamond pickaxe won’t help with the ancient debris, it would speed up the process of gathering diamonds. But it is, again, entirely optional.
We offer a guide on enchanting, which can be found here.
Ancient debris generate anywhere in the nether between Y-level 1 and Y-level 119 and can be mined with the diamond pickaxe made during step one. However, we recommend Y-level 16 because it has the least amount of lava, making it perfect for mining. From there, those who may prefer it can simply begin strip mining, or beds can be used as an alternative to TNT to quickly create large tunnels in search of ancient debris. Ancient debris is resistant to explosions, so there is no need to worry about accidentally destroying it.
Regardless of the method used, sixteen ancient debris are required to proceed.
Once the sixteen ancient debris are in hand, place them in a furnace with some coal, where they will slowly melt down into sixteen netherite scrap. Four netherite scrap can then be placed on a crafting table alongside four gold bars to craft one netherite ingot. A total of four netherite ingots are needed to craft a full set of netherite.
The next item required for crafting netherite armor is a netherite upgrade smithing template, which we will need four of. These can be looted from the chests within bastion remnant structures found in the nether, with one guaranteed to be within the structure’s main treasure chest.
Once a single netherite upgrade smithing template has been looted, the remaining three (or fewer if you got lucky) can be crafted on a crafting table. The recipe will use the netherite upgrade smithing template that was just obtained, but it will produce two, allowing as many as desired to be crafted. The recipe is one netherite upgrade smithing template, one netherrack, and seven diamonds.
With the full set of diamond armor, four netherite ingots, and four netherite upgrade smithing templates in hand, the netherite armor can finally be crafted on a smithing table. If a smithing table is not yet owned, it can be easily crafted using four planks and two iron ingots.
Once the smithing table is open, place the netherite upgrade smithing template in the left-most spot, a diamond armor piece in the middle, and finally, the netherite ingot in the right-most spot. With that, you have successfully crafted your first piece of netherite armor. Repeat this final part three more times, and the journey is complete!
