Minecraft Mob Vote Wishlist: 5 New Mobs That Should Join Copper Golems
Posted on by
With copper golems added to the game, fans are more excited about past mob votes than ever. After all, their favorite that never won could very well be the next sudden addition. So, today, we explore our Minecraft mob vote wishlist and list five mobs that should join copper golems in a future update.
In 2018, the Biome Chooser led to the taiga biome and foxes winning, leaving behind meerkats, termites, and ostriches. Like many others at the time, we can’t help but wonder what termites would have entailed. Could they invade wooden structures, or would they have kept to their large mounds in savannahs? Minecraft desperately needs more bugs in either case.
Crabs were the most recent loser of the mob vote alongside penguins, and to this day, players lament the loss of the item that would have come with them. The crab claw, if added, would have extended a player’s reach for block placement by one block, which is undeniably useful, especially for builders.
The crab itself was also no less adorable and would have lived in mangrove swamp biomes, scurrying up and around trees. But, on second thought, perhaps this mob losing was for the best, as those poor crabs would have been slaughtered.
In 2018, the Biome Chooser wasn’t the only vote going on! Over in China, a completely separate mob vote was held, where the panda ended up winning over crocodiles, golden monkeys, deer, and pink dolphins. If any mob from this list were to come back, we would love to see the crocodile that came second!
Outside of the polar bears, Minecraft lacks animals that are simply dangerous to approach and handle. The crocodile would fit this need due to its abundance across many biomes and make for the perfect mob to teach the dangers of what real-world animals can entail. Hopefully one day!
While we adore the sniffer, the loss of rascals in the 2022 mob vote can hardly be forgotten. This nifty mob would have lived in mineshafts and played hide-and-seek tag with players, rewarding those fast enough to catch them three times. It was just such a unique concept for a mob that would have also added some more non-hostile life to the depths of the overworld.
As for the loot it provided, it was ultimately nothing all that great. However, if brought back, we have no doubt that Mojang would rework them to address the loot-based faults players previously gave.
Finally, we have a loser from the original 2017 mob vote that started it all, the barnacle. The oceans in Minecraft are not very intimidating and often overlooked entirely. The barnacle would have been one frightening step towards making them more dangerous, like the oceans of the real world.
Now, some may be wondering, “barnacles, really?” and to that we say it’s not the kind you are thinking of. These barnacles would have waited in the depths of the ocean and sucked down unsuspecting players to devour them. The concept alone is completely terrifying! We can only hope this ancient idea sees the light of day again.
