On February 20, developer Tripwire Interactive held a four-day beta test for Killing Floor 3. The game's full release was originally going to take place roughly one month later on March 25, but now, as a result of fan feedback, Killing Floor 3 has been delayed.

Killing Floor 3 Release Date Delayed for Gameplay Improvements

In an apologetic message shared on their X (Twitter) page, Tripwire Interactive informed fans that Killing Floor 3 is now targeting, “an undecided date later in 2025.” There's a lot of time left in 2025, which means new Killing Floor-branded carnage could take much longer to arrive. In the same message, the developers also acknowledge the negative fan feedback levied toward the game's beta. “After taking the time to gather and discuss feedback from our recent closed beta, we've realized that we missed the mark. Our goal isn't just to make Killing Floor 3 an ambitious step forward for the franchise, but also to maintain the core experience that you've come to know and love.” This particular portion of the message feels like a direct response to player complaints on Reddit. Some of which described the game's beta by saying, “Killing Floor 3 is an unpolished, glitch-ridden, vomit-inducing wreck.” Unfortunately, many players and the developers themselves seem to agree that the beta left much to be desired for those looking for a true Killing Floor experience.

What's Next for Killing Floor 3?

In the latter half of Tripwire Interactive's message, they offer a more positive outlook to their game's continued development. They aim to fix many of the issues that players had during the game's beta in order to present, “a more polished version of Killing Floor 3.” Some of these improvements are aimed at addressing the following areas:
  • UI/UX
  • Lighting
  • Weapon Feel
  • Performance/Stability
  • Readjusting Perk Classes & Characters
Despite the disappointing nature of a game being delayed, general reactions have been positive to the decision. Many players have been voicing their approval to the decision and hope to see Tripwire Interactive bounce back. Of course, with the game's delay coming so close to the originally planned release date of March 25 there are still some lingering issues with pre-orders. Thankfully, the developers have addressed these issues with an official FAQ for the game. Cancelling a pre-order is different based on the platform, but Tripwire Interactive has outlined answers for each. Making video games is no easy task, and it seems that Tripwire Interactive has plenty of work left to do. Hopefully things go smoothly, and players can revel in a more refined Killing Floor 3 sooner than later!
