As you strive to prove yourself worthy to the gods, you'll eventually come across immense endgame challenges in Valheim. Luckily, with the arrival of Valheim 1.0, Thunderblood and Frostfire Essence have been added. These rare materials can give you access to the game's strongest weapons, making even the toughest of foes cower in fear. Here, we'll tell you how to get Thunderblood Essence and Frostfire Essence, all of their crafting recipes, and more.

How to Get Thunderblood Essence & Frostfire Essence in Valheim

In order to claim Thunderblood and Frostfire Essence in Valheim, you need to visit the Deep North biome. Here, you'll occasionally come upon deep pits and caves that lead underground to areas known as the Winding Tunnels. It's here that you can encounter plenty of dangerous enemies, dungeons, and unique treasures. The treasure you're looking for is called Memorial Coal. This can be found most reliably by breaking brazers scattered throughout the tunnels. You'll want to gather as much Memorial Coal as you can, and then head back to the surface of the Deep North. Here, you need to find a location called an Ancient Altar. Unfortunately, there's no guaranteed spawn location for these, but more than one of them can spawn in Deep North locations. Once you find an Ancient Altar, you can fuel it with three pieces of Memorial Coal. This will summon a Fallen Warrior. These are undead enemies with 750 health. They resist burn, slash, pierce, and fire, but they take extra damage from spirit attacks. They're also completely immune to poison damage. When a Fallen Warrior is defeated, it will randomly drop a Thunderblood or Frostfire Essence. If you feel confident in your specter-slaying abilities, you can fuel the Ancient Altar with multiple charges at a time to fight more than one Fallen Warrior. This can make essence farming go much quicker. Once you've gathered your essence, you're free to head back to your base and craft your very own Thunderblood or Frostfire weapons. These are the strongest arms in the game as of Valheim update 1.0. Of course, you can make them even stronger if you use some idols!
