Piglin bartering can be an easy way to get some rare items that are otherwise quite hard to obtain, especially when a speedrun time is at stake. So, today, we explore bartering in our Minecraft 1.21 piglin trading guide.

Where to Find Piglins

Piglins can not be found naturally in the overworld, nor can they survive there for long, requiring players to instead venture into the nether to begin making deals. There, piglins spawn in groups throughout the nether waste and crimson forest biomes, and have the appearance of a humanoid pig wearing leather clothing. It is also possible to find piglins in bastion remnant structures, but they are more than likely accompanied by very dangerous piglin brutes, which attack on sight regardless of precautions taken.

How to Stop Piglins From Attacking

Minecraft Piglin Trading Screenshot Nothing can stop a piglin brute from attacking, but regular piglins can be reasoned with by simply putting on some golden armor. Any one piece will do, and as long as you do not anger the piglins, they will remain neutral, which is ideal for bartering. A neutral piglin can be provoked into attacking by breaking gold blocks of any kind (including ore), opening storage containers, removing worn gold armor, or damaging a piglin.

Piglin Trading

  • Blackstone
  • Crying Obsidian
  • Dried Ghast
  • Enchanted Book: Soul Speed
  • Ender Pearl
  • Fire Charge
  • Iron Boots Enchanted with Soul Speed
  • Iron Nugget
  • Leather
  • Nether Brick
  • Nether Quartz
  • Obsidian
  • Potion of Fire Resistance
  • Soul Sand
  • Spectral Arrow
  • String
  • Water Bottle
Once the piglins aren’t trying to kill you, bartering with them is very simple. Toss one gold ingot at the piglin, give them a moment to pick it up and examine it, and then accept your non-negotiable reward, which can be as bland as gravel or as great as an exclusive enchanted book. If you have a lot of gold to trade, we recommend digging a hole to trap the piglin inside. This will keep them bartering for as long as needed despite not being the most ethical suggestion of this piglin trading guide. Also, be wary of baby piglins as they are just as excited to get their hands on gold ingots, but will not give anything in return.

Soul Speed (Piglin Trading Exclusive)

  • Soul Speed I (40% Speed Boost)
  • Soul Speed II (50% Speed Boost)
  • Soul Speed III (60% Speed Boost)
While bartering with piglins, players may obtain an enchanted book with the enchantment “Soul Speed.” This enchantment is exclusive to piglin trading and can not be obtained through any other means. As for what it does, any boots enchanted with soul speed allow the player to move faster on soul sand and soul soil by up to a little over 60% at enchantment level three.
