Minecraft Live 2022 has come and gone, but not without leaving us with new features to look forward to! Today we explore the unnamed Minecraft 1.20 update and all the content it has in store. New blocks, mobs, and so much more!
Alex and Steve have found seven new friends to join them on their adventures! From left to right, in the same order they appear, we have Sunny, Kai, Makena, Steve, Alex, Zuri, Efe, Ari, and Noor. Mojang will be using them to shape their own story and in promotional content, such as what we saw with the Wild Update trailers.
Rumor has it they may even come out this year rather than with the rest of the 1.20 update scheduled for 2023.
Made of stripped logs and chains, hanging signs do just as their name describes! When placed beneath a solid block, the sign hangs from a chain on either side. When placed on the side of a block, it hangs from two chains on a thin piece of lumber. Finally, when placed beneath something like a fence, the two chains angle inward. Color-wise, they match the stripped log used to craft them.
However, Minecraft Live showcased that they can also be used as decoration rather than just a sign! It all comes down to one’s creative mind.
Unlike regular bookshelves, chiseled bookshelves are empty and allow up to six books to be visibly stored inside. When a book, book & quill, or enchanted book is removed or placed, it also sends out a redstone signal specific to the slot from which it was removed or placed.
During Minecraft Live, this was used to showcase a hidden door activated by removing a specific book from a shelf.
Bamboo will be getting a full wood set with Minecraft 1.20, meaning everything from slabs to stairs in a bamboo design. Additionally, bamboo will have a unique block called bamboo mosaic, and boats crafted with bamboo will be rafts in appearance.
A new mob will be spawning in deserts come Minecraft 1.20! Camels are ridable mobs with two seats, the ability to dash for long leaps, and are tall enough that melee mobs can not reach the player! They will be bred using cacti, making those cactus farms worth the investment.

These pre-historic mobs will be found in eggs in ruins along the sea floor, and when brought to the surface, they will roam the overworld once more! They enjoy sniffing flowers, will wander about gardens, and will dig up ancient seeds leading to new flowers.
Minecraft 1.20: What’s Coming in The Unnamed Update?
For those disappointed, know there is more to come! The Minecraft team has stated they will be making gradual announcements of content as it is ready to be shown.
