How to Enter the Minecraft Build Challenge: Deadline, Rules, & More
Posted on by
The time has come for Minecraft fans to put their skills to the test! Mojang is searching for a builder who thinks their build has what it takes to be in A Minecraft Movie Squared itself. But submissions are only open for a limited time. So, today, we explore how to enter the Minecraft Build Challenge, the Minecraft Build Challenge deadline, and a few important requirements to ensure you qualify.
Announced during Minecraft Live TwitchCon 2026, the Official Minecraft Build Challenge is a movie-adjacent contest where players 16 years of age or older can submit their builds to be vetted by Mojang and eventually voted on by the community. The winner will have their build featured in A Minecraft Movie Squared and receive an exclusive Minecraft cape, while all finalists will receive the chance to attend a private viewing of the movie.
Any contestant attempting to enter the Minecraft Build Challenge must be 16 years of age or older and have Bedrock Edition to download and use the free Build Challenge Map from the marketplace. Once inside, the 16x16x32 space is the canvas that no submitted build can exceed. The build itself must also be a structure or house. Once complete, a single build can be submitted here. It must include a name, brief description, front-facing screenshot, and a 15 to 30 second YouTube video offering a full 360-degree view.
There are many smaller build and submission rules that are immediate grounds for disqualification if broken. We highly recommend reviewing the official build and submission rule lists, which we have quoted at the bottom of this article.
The Minecraft Build Challenge deadline is June 8, 2026, at 11:59 PM PT. Any attempt to submit after that will sadly not be accepted by Mojang. The dates and timelines for community voting have not yet been announced.
