Farming Simulator 25 Fishing Guide: How to Catch & Sell Fish
Posted on by
The Highlands Fishing Pack is the first major expansion for Farming Simulator 25. As the DLC’s name implies, it allows FS25 players to become full-fledged fisherfolk and gain extra income from the fish they catch. So, here’s how to take advantage of Farming Simulator 25’s new fishing mechanic and create your own fishing empire in Kinlaig.
Generally, the first fishing spot in the Kinlaig map (included in the Highlands Fishing Expansion Pack) is the Fish Lake. You can purchase additional Fish Lakes for at least $12,000 per unit from the Build Mode menu under the Aquaculture Tab.
Note: The costs of purchasing an extra Fish Lake can increase when placed on uneven terrain.
Additionally, each Fish Lake is also a dedicated Production Chain. In particular, interact with the Wrench/Spanner icon near the structure to access its Production Chain menu. With that, you can breed trout in the Fish Lake. For starters, place trout in the Lake, then add store-bought Fish Food into it to keep the fish as healthy as possible. Alternatively, place smaller Trouts into the Fish Lake, which also acts as Fish Food.
With the Fish Lake placed, access the Buy Menu and go into the Vehicles section. Here, navigate to Hand Tools and choose Fishing Rods. At the time of writing, only one Fishing Rod exists in Farming Simulator 25, and buying it costs you $150.
Thankfully, FS25 immediately gives you a Fishing Rod if you start a new game in the Kinlaig map. However, starting a game in other Farming Simulator 25 maps won’t let you have this perk from the start. Nonetheless, it also means that the fishing mechanic will be unlocked in the other maps upon enabling the Highlands Fishing Expansion Pack for those regions.
So, start fishing by equipping the rod. Next, position yourself near the Fish Lake or other body of water, and then press and hold the assigned button. Remember, the line will fly farther the longer you hold the button or key.
Wait for the fish to bite the bait. If one does, press the action button or key at the right moment. If not, the fish may escape, and you’ll lose the opportunity to catch it. If successful, the fishing minigame begins.
Note: It’s still possible to catch fish from an empty Fish Lake. However, it’s also possible to reel in unsellable items, like an old buoy.
Now, reeling the fish requires you to hold the hook parallel to the fish. Continue until the bar on the left fills completely by pressing and holding the specified button or key. Don’t be afraid to release the hook to ensure its icon is aligned with the fish. Persevere, and you should be able to land the fish, allowing you to either sell it immediately or release it back into the water.
Selling a caught fish yields $100, which might not be an efficient way of earning money during the game’s late stages. Instead, consider taking advantage of a Fish Farming Facility to maximize profit and revenue.
Note that starting a Fish Farming Production Line typically requires a significant investment. This production line starts with the Young Fish Breeding facility, which you can purchase from the Build menu for $95,000. Interact with the establishment to purchase young trout or salmon.
Note: Fish breeding and cultivating require a consistent supply of fish food.
Next, buy a Cargo Vessel for $275,000. Then, buy and place an Offshore Aquaculture Facility (found in the Aquaculture section of the Build window), which costs $125,000 for the smallest-sized variant.
After purchasing these requirements, the production line should start with the Fish Breeding Facility. Next, transport the young fish using the Cargo Vessel to the Offshore Aquaculture Facility. Here, wait for the fish to mature. Once completed, gather the containers of mature fish and sell them to your preferred sell point.
