Where to Find the Coral Zombie Nautilus
Posted on by
One can never know what lurks in oceans deep, especially just after a new snapshot was released! Today, we answer where to find the coral zombie nautilus added in snapshot 25W45A, alongside how to turn it into a mount with ease.
Zombie nautili are an undead variant of nautilus that can spawn in any ocean biome alongside a drowned rider wielding a spear. They are hostile until their rider is defeated, at which point they become passive and tameable using pufferfish or buckets of pufferfish. Zombie nautili are otherwise identical to their living counterparts, minus the ability to breed and or go in sunlight.
As of writing, two variants of zombie nautili exist in-game: the standard zombie nautilus and the coral zombie nautilus.
The coral zombie nautilus is exclusive to warm ocean biomes. Should that name sound unfamiliar, a visual description of it is the ocean biome that contains coral reefs and tropical fish. When searching for a warm ocean biome, keep an eye out for desert and badlands biomes, as it is commonly found next to them.
Despite the new biome and texture, the coral zombie nautilus still spawns with a drowned rider, so be ready to fight. After defeating the rider, it follows the same rules as the standard zombie nautilus and can be tamed using pufferfish or buckets of pufferfish.
Once a zombie nautilus of either kind has been tamed, a saddle can be applied alongside nautilus armor. The first allows for the riding of the zombie nautilus as a mount, while the armor provides damage reduction and protection from sunlight.
Nautilus armor, much like horse armor, can not be crafted and instead appears as loot in some sea-based structures—specifically, buried treasure chests, shipwrecks, and underwater ruins. Diamond nautilus armor can, however, be upgraded into netherite nautilus armor on a smithing table using netherite ingot and netherite upgrade template.
