Project Zomboid: Queasy Debuff And How to Fix
Publicado em por
While you're casually strolling through the roads of Knox County, putting down undead hordes, suddenly a small green face appears in the corner of your screen. This gentle reminder, the Queasy debuff, begins as a whisper with a slight churn in the stomach, but it only gets worse from here! The Queasy moodle is the start of an imminent death sentence in Project Zomboid if left unchecked. Here, we cover what the Project Zomboid Queasy debuff does, its causes, fixes, and how to avoid it entirely in your next run!
Queasy is one of the scariest known debuffs in Project Zomboid, and it appears as the first stage of sickness projection for your survivor for some of the worst afflictions you can have. If it appears, it signals that your character’s sickness level is now above 25%. As mentioned earlier, this debuff appears as a green, sickly face with its tongue out. Failure to address this concern will further escalate the illness, which can progress to Nauseous, Sick, and, finally, Fever.
Zombie apocalypse survivors in Knox Country may contract the illness through various sources. Nonetheless, the causes of the Queasy debuff in Project Zomboid can fall into one of three major categories:
The steps to fixing Queasy generally depend on its root cause. Although typically treatable, if you get this debuff from a zombie bite, scratch, or laceration and your character simultaneously becomes Anxious, your time is limited.
Escaping death’s embrace is a true survivor’s art. Following a routine of healthy habits in Project Zomboid can prevent the development of the Queasy status and other sicknesses. Below are some practices to help keep that green face at bay:
What is the Queasy Debuff in Project Zomboid?
- Knox Virus: Also known as the zombie infection, a player may start feeling Queasy after a recent scratch, laceration, or bite from a zombie. Out of all these sources, an undead’s teeth sinking into your skin is 100% fatal. On the other hand, scratches and lacerations from zombies have a smaller chance of getting your character infected.
- Food Poisoning: Consuming dirty or rotten food or beverages can cause the player to receive the Queasy debuff. Sources may come from rotten, burnt, or uncooked food, or drinking tainted water from rivers and unpurified containers.
- Corpse Sickness: Nearby rotting cadavers, especially those with flies swarming around them, cause sickness to accumulate. The progress of becoming Queasy in Project Zomboid has been increased in Build 42, so that even a handful of corpses can trigger illness. Players can prevent this situation from escalating by doing away with the carcasses when their character says, “Ew, that stinks.”
How to Cure the Queasy Debuff in Project Zomboid
The steps to fixing Queasy generally depend on its root cause. Although typically treatable, if you get this debuff from a zombie bite, scratch, or laceration and your character simultaneously becomes Anxious, your time is limited.
Consume Lemongrass
If the culprit of being Queasy is the consumption of spoiled or tainted food, counteract the poison flowing through your survivor’s veins with Lemongrass. Found by foraging in forested areas, consume it immediately. Consume about five pieces to drop the sickness level below the damage threshold and remove the moodle from your screen.Relocate Your Base
Sometimes, it’s inevitable for you and your mates in a Project Zomboid server to stack zombie bodies near your base. Resources become thin, and it becomes near-impossible to get fresh air from the immediate environment because of the piling corpses. While removing bodies from the area may be a temporary way to alleviate things, the flow of the undead often proves too great in densely populated areas, and you'll have to manage accumulation as you work to solve it. Once this becomes too much, it’s time for you and your party to relocate bases.Wound Care
A seemingly normal wound that’s not from a zombie can still become infected. Failure to treat it can lead to queasiness. Disinfect the wound using disinfectant or alcohol. Next, apply a clean, sterile bandage if you can. Don’t forget to change the bandage regularly to ensure the wound stays clean. Use painkillers if necessary to help manage the pain.Maintain Overall Health
Consider stopping all objectives of daring do upon seeing the Queasy moodle appear on your screen. If the cause of this green face appearing is a non-zombie source, universal treatment methods often work to fix this health concern. Start by finding a safe, enclosed space. If you’re in a zombie-infested area, barricade the doors and windows to prevent any undead from suddenly barging into your alone time. Next, consume high-quality foods from your inventory until the green “Well Fed” moodle appears. Don’t forget to stay warm and dry, as being cold or wet can worsen your condition. Also, sleep as much as possible. Resting in a good bed in Project Zomboid can help accelerate recovery. Stay away from being too tired to let the sickness pass faster than its normal rate.Death
A recent zombie scratch, laceration, or bite means you’ll soon turn into one of “them.” There’s no cure, and the only way out is to accept what’s coming. So, if you see the Queasy moodle, and it doesn’t seem to go away even after applying known remedies, make the most of your final hours. Spend this time to secure your base, drop valuable gear in a safe container, and perhaps lead your soon-to-turn character away from your allies. Although it sounds gruesome, some players may want to end it sooner rather than later by drinking bleach or jumping from a tall building.Queasy Prevention in Project Zomboid
Escaping death’s embrace is a true survivor’s art. Following a routine of healthy habits in Project Zomboid can prevent the development of the Queasy status and other sicknesses. Below are some practices to help keep that green face at bay:
- Never eat rotten or uncooked food. Always check the food's freshness before consuming it.
- Move and dispose of corpses regularly. Don’t leave bodies to rot where you live. Bury or burn the carcasses whenever possible.
- Avoid zombie bites and scratches. Wear layered clothing to protect body parts from potential harm when fending off the undead.
- Stay warm and dry. Prolonged exposure to rain, snow, or cold may eventually make your survivor sick, and the indicator for that happening is the Queasy moodle.
- Take the Iron Gut trait. Allocate points to this trait to reduce your risk of food poisoning by 50%. It also allows your character to recover from food poisoning faster.
