You don't have to play Terraria alone. True, you can always play with friends, but you can also gather a collection of handy mounts to join you in your two-dimensional travels. Thanks to the Bigger & Boulder Terraria 1.4.5 update, we now have even more options for mounts. We have every piece of information on all the new Terraria 1.4.5. mounts right here in this guide.

All New Terraria 1.4.5 Mounts

As longtime Terraria players may already know, not all mounts are the same. They can vary widely in utility. Some fly, some offer passive buffs, some allow you to use weapons, and much more. In fact, some mounts aren't even mounts. They might be technically classified as mounts, but Transformation Mounts actually turn you into a speedy creature yourself. All mounts, whether they transform you or not, require a summoning item before they can be used. You'll have to hunt these summoning items down throughout the world before you can add a specific mount to your collection. Luckily, you can store and collect as many mounts as you like. This is great news since not all mounts are best for all exploration or combat scenarios. Once you have a mount's summoning item in your possession, you need to drag it into the appropriate equipment slot in your inventory. Then, simply press 'R' as you're exploring. This will summon and dismiss your equipped mount whenever you like.

Chillet Mount

First up, we have the Palworld crossover mounts: Chillet & Chillet Ignis. The only difference between the two is their colors. Chillet is a nice icy blue, and Chillet Ignis comes in a soft red palette. To obtain either one of these Pals, you must head into the Underground or Cavern layers to find a Huge Dragon Egg. The color of Chillet you receive is random, but both of them allow you to use items or weapons while mounted. Your weapons will also receive a 10% damage buff when mounted. Additionally, you can have Chillet unleash a dash attack by double-tapping the left or right movement keys.

Velociraptor Transformation Mount

This is the first of several new transformation mounts in Terraria 1.4.5. To summon and transform into it, you need a Slasher's Mysterious Skull. This can only be crafted at an Anvil with the following ingredients:

• Sturdy Fossils: 20
• Fallen Stars: 5
• Amber: 5

As a Raptor, you'll have increased movement speed and the continued ability to use your weapons. It can also be used with additional items such as Wings. Finally, the Raptor will reduce any fall damage.

Bat Transformation Mount

The next transformation mount is the Bat. This summoning item, called the Amulet of the Night, is a bit trickier to get. It has a chance of dropping from Vampires that are slain during a Solar Eclipse. However, you can also find it in chests if you're playing on the Vampirism secret world seed. Once you have an Amulet of the Night, you can transform into a Bat at will with infinite flight. However, you cannot use any items or weapons in this form. The moment you try to use one, you'll be transformed back into your human self.

Rat Transformation Mount

Next on the list of transformation mounts is the Rat. To acquire this summoning item, you must explore the Underground Jungle and open Ivy Chests. You're looking for an item called the Cursed Piper Flute. As a Rat, you can climb up walls and fit into any space that's only a single block tall. However, like the Bat, you cannot use weapons or other items in this form.

Pixie Transformation Mount

Finally, we have the last transformation mount that was added in the Bigger & Boulder update: the Pixie. The summoning item you need is called Enchanted Pixie Dust. This has a 0.5% chance of dropping once you've defeated any mechanical boss. Like the Bat, the Pixie transformation mount will allow you to fly infinitely. Unlike the bat, you'll also receive the bonus of emitting a faint light. This makes the Pixie particularly handy for exploring deep caves. Once again, this form does not allow you to use any items or weapons.

Roller Skates Mount

The last new Terraria mount added in update 1.4.5 is a pair of Roller Skates. Yup. These can be purchased from either the Skeleton merchant or the Traveling Merchant. At the Skeleton Merchant, you can purchase skates with green, red, or pink wheels, where the option available cycles during different moon phases. At the Traveling Merchant, you can only buy skates with yellow wheels. With Roller Skates equipped, your character's movement physics are altered. If you ride along just right, you can speed through the world at lightning speed. Additionally, you can use them to travel along minecart tracks.
