It's finally time to slow down and enjoy the great outdoors of Ashenfall. With the release of Update 0.11.1, RuneScape: Dragonwilds now has fishing, which means you and your crew can fill your bellies with all the shrimp, fish, and eels you can carry. But first, you'll need to know how to fish. Here, we'll tell you what kind of tools you can craft, how the leveling for fishing works in Runescape: Dragonwilds, available Skill Spells, and more.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds Fishing Guide - How to Fish, Skill Tree, Leveling, & Spells

Before you can get started, you'll need to speak with the Wise Old Man in Brynmoor. He'll give you a quest to introduce you to fishing by having you craft a Coarse Net. For that, you need two pieces of Coarse Thread. Once crafted, you're free to fish! However, there are a few things to keep in mind when net fishing. First, you can only use fishing nets in Net Fishing Spots. All fishing spots are depicted as white rippling circles in the water. However, Net Fishing Spots are near the shore and smaller in size. Meanwhile, Rod Fishing Spots are larger and a bit further out. Once you've found a Net Fishing Spot, interact with it and use your Left Mouse Button to regularly trawl the water. You'll get some fish, likely shrimp, and perhaps a few pieces of junk. Eventually, you'll hit fishing skill level 3. Then, you can craft an Ash Rod from one Ash Log and one Coarse Thread. With a rod, you can interact with the larger ripples of water and catch different fish. Fishing works differently, too. While your line is out and a fish has taken the bait, you'll use either your A or D key to pull the fishing line in the opposite direction that the fish is headed. Keep the Left Mouse Button held to reel it in, and tire your fishy prey out. Unfortunately, you can still gather junk with a fishing rod. To reduce the likelihood of junk showing up, you'll want to equip your rod with some bait. There is a variety of bait you can craft and use, but early on, the easiest to acquire is Shrimp Bait. As you'll see with your Net Fishing, Shrimp are some of the easiest aquatic critters to catch.

Leveling Fishing in Runescape: Dragonwilds (Level Rewards & Spells)

Like all skills in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, the more fishing you do, the more your fishing skill level will increase. Along the way, you'll receive some nifty rewards to make fishing-related activities even easier. Also, like other skills in RuneScape: Dragonwilds, leveling up your fishing will get you three powerful Spells to make the process even easier. This provides a nice curve of powering up your XP gains as you grind. First, you'll unlock Fishing Frenzy. This will cause a fishing node to appear with more fish available. Perfect for when you want fish but haven't been able to find any! The next Skill Spell is Infernal Rod. Don't want to take the time to hike back to your camp and fire up the grill? This allows you to infuse your rod with a magical fire that instantly cooks your catch. And finally, there's Fishnado. This will get you more fish than anything else as you whip up a magic storm to send a handful of fish straight from the water into your backpack.   • Allows the player to catch rare Pristine Fish, which can be made into decoration or additional food.
• Level 23: Fish Weight Reduction
  • All Fish carry weight is reduced by 25%.
• Level 30: Infernal Rod
  • Unlocks the Infernal Rod Skill Spell.
• Level 34: Fish Barrel Storage
  • Unlocks the ability to build fish barrels.
• Level 39: Tackle Box
  • Unlocks the ability to build bait storage.
• Level 43: Troubled Waters
  • Fishing Frenzy now reduces stamina by 15% while the spell is active.
• Level 49: Increase Net Fishing Catch Chance
  • Increases all net fishing catches by 75%.
• Level 55: Fishnado
  • Unlocks the Fishnado Skill Spell.
• Level 60: Greater Fishnado
  • Reduces the cooldown for Fishnado.
• Level 70: Experienced Angler
  • Chance for no depletion on catch.
• Level 99: Fishing Skill Cape
  • Unlocks the ability to craft and wear the Fishing Skill Cape and its trimmed variant.

All Runescape: Dragonwilds Fish Types

As part of RuneScape: Dragonwilds update 0.11.1, 12 different types of fish have been added for your angling pursuits. These fish are found in bodies of water all around Ashenfall, each complete with their own regions and bait preferences. To fish 'em all, you'll have to get experimental and find what works best!
