Heed the call of the wasteland, survivor, and return to 7 Days to Die with the launch of the Version 3.0 Update. This major update puts the world in players' hands, offering many new in-game and server customization options. So, welcome back to Navezgane, as it’s time to make this undead-ridden world your own.

7 Days to Die 3.0 Returning Player Guide (Everything You Need to Know)

7 Days to Die 3 Returning Player Guide Officially released as the Dead Hot Summer Update, 7 Days to Die Version 3.0 launched for PC (Stable) and consoles on June 29, 2026. Arguably, the theme of this major patch is transformation, as it puts the power of the zombie apocalypse in players' hands. Once updated, survivors can fine-tune their worlds using over 150 sandbox customization options, an overhaul of the modding framework, and more! But first, it’s ideal for players to start a new save file. You can still use your old save file. However, it’s not recommended, since worlds saved in previous versions aren’t compatible with the additions and changes introduced in 3.0.

What’s New for Returning Players in 7 Days to Die 3.0?

Over 150 Sandbox Customization Options
Perhaps the biggest addition to 7 Days to Die from Update 3.0 is the inclusion of 150+ sandbox customization options. These settings allow players to fine-tune almost every aspect of the game with granular control. For example, make zombie bodies tiny but enlarge their heads. Alternatively, toggle zombie digging or adjust selling prices to earn massive profits by trading excess materials with traders. It’s also possible to disable magazines to limit how far you can progress your skills. Some survivors might be overwhelmed upon seeing the new sandbox options. Those who don’t want to tweak everything manually or simply want an easier way to enjoy custom worlds can use the new options available with curated modes. For instance, Undead Matinee offers a melee-focused, vintage movie-inspired experience, complete with scarce ammo and slow zombies in large numbers. There’s also Madmole’s Mayhem, cranking up the pressure with fewer supplies, harsher death penalties, and item durability loss on death. Other presets include Bite Club, a hardcore permadeath mode, 7 Days Later, which has faster and more chaotic undead hordes, and Chibi Mode, for those who like shooting cute but fast zombies.
The Magnitude System & Combine Station
7 Days to Die 3.0 also lets players enhance their survivability options with the introduction of the Magnitude System and the Combine Station. These additions allow survivors to find and craft powerful gear, some of which can have special effects. For starters, the Magnitude System allows weapons, tools, and even workstation mods to spawn with random boosted stats. An orange star and a teal percentage appear on the item to indicate its enhanced features. For example, a boosted shotgun may have extended range, or an enhanced machete might provide increased damage output. Next is the Combine Station, a new workstation that can become a game-changer for some players. This functional structure allows players to merge two similar items, transferring the highest percentage-boosted or Magnitude stat to the final product, regardless of quality. For example, you find a low-quality base shotgun with an incredible range bonus. Use the Combine Station to combine it with a higher-quality shotgun, so the more powerful variant acquires the boosted effect.
Over 60 New Points of Interest (POIs)
It seems that every major 7 Days to Die update brings new POIs to Navezgane, and 3.0 is no exception. Returning players will be happy to know that this zombie-filled world is now the new home to over 60 new locations, expanding the playable map dramatically. One of the highlighted POIs is the Champions Coliseum, a massive Tier 5 soccer stadium turned zombie-infested arena. Other notable locations include new industrial facilities, farm locations, and military camps. The variety of new POIs ranges from garden centers to military bunkers across multiple tiers.
The Sign-Tech System
Some returning players might notice clearer images after updating to Version 3.0 of 7 Days to Die. Look at the signage, and you'll see that many of these monuments now feature custom text, shapes, colors, and layering options. Although seemingly simple, this improvement makes ruins, compounds, and entire towns more detailed than before.
Change to Modding & Server Management
The 7 Days to Die Update 3.0 also changes how the game configures mods and servers. Developer The Fun Pimps overhauled the XUi framework to reduce code duplication and simplify the creation of custom content. Doing so should help modded 7 Days to Die servers experience fewer crashes and improve overall stability. Additionally, server administrators can use the new sandbox settings to create, name, and even share custom survival experiences with the community. However, it’s important to review the updated server configuration documentation, as the transition to the new sandbox system replaces many legacy properties.
