There’s no rest for the wicked after defeating the Guardian of Minerva, as Romestead directs you to defeat the next boss: the Cyclops. This guide serves as your tactical conference, as it covers the boss’s location, the fight’s phase-by-phase breakdown, and the rich loot that awaits those who come out of the arena as the victor.

Where is the Cyclops in Romestead?

Romestead Cyclops Unlike the Guardian of Minerva that can be found in the overworld, the Cyclops in Romestead doesn’t roam the map as a random encounter. To face it, search for the dungeon in the Desert called “The Eye.” Thankfully, the game shows you the location of its location after defeating the game’s first main boss. Romestead Cyclops Location Once prepared, travel to the dungeon. Inside, you must unlock two doors by throwing keys at them. Fight and defeat the lesser creatures inhabiting the dungeon to access the keys. Head down to the boss’s arena upon opening both doors.

How to Defeat the Cyclops in Romestead

Don’t think for a second that the Cyclops boss fight in Romestead is the same as dealing with the Guardian of Minerva. While depleting the giant bird’s health immediately makes you the victor, this fight with the one-eyed giant ramps up the game’s difficulty by giving you a multi-phase battle. This fight invokes a brutal ballet of four phases, each demanding a shift in tactics and testing your mastery of Romestead’s combat mechanics. Before proceeding with this fight, ensure your inventory is stocked with restorative items, like potions, and have enough time to complete this grueling battle.
Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 1
Romestead Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 1 The boss fight’s dangerous welcome is a ranged barrage filled with treacherous creatures spawning left and right. Despite the Cyclops staying stationary throughout this phase, it’ll bombard you with a steady stream of glowing orbs shot directly from its eye. Tip: The top-right corner is a low-risk area, allowing you to dodge most projectiles from the Cyclops’s eye. While it’s busy pummeling you with “eye bullets,” various creatures spawn from the ceiling. These enemies aim to disrupt your evasive maneuvers by pushing you into a corner. However, one of these NPCs has a bomb on its head. Defeat it, and quickly throw the explosive at the Cyclops’s eye. This action is the only way to damage and deplete the boss’s health during this phase. Tip: Have a party in a Romstead server when fighting the Cyclops to divide roles and minimize misinputs.
Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 2
Romestead Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 2 Don’t make the mistake of thinking that depleting the Cyclops’s health once guarantees your victory. Now, you’ll see it emerging from the mountain, revealing its giant glory. This time, the Cyclops slams its two hands on the ground. Your goal is to attack these hands to deplete the boss’s second health bar. It may sound easy, but the Cyclops trades its small projectiles with a red, piercing laser. Thankfully, the laser’s tracking speed is fairly slow, allowing you to run to the opposite side of the room to evade it. Oftentimes, the Cyclops will also slam one of its hands. Although dangerous, this action also sends boulders plummeting to the ground that can also damage the boss’s health. Hit the arms, evade the lasers, and dodge the slams. Rinse and repeat. The second phase is a test of discipline that punishes the greedy and rewards the patient.
Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 3
Romestead Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 3 The third phase of this boss fight is similar to the first. However, this time, the Cyclops amps up the threat levels to new heights. For starters, it now shoots red projectiles instead of the yellow bullets experienced in the first stage. The red “balls” deal more damage than their yellow counterparts. To make things worse, the ceiling drops new enemies into the fray. Some examples include scorpions and snakes, and getting hit by these foes debuffs you with poison, dealing damage over time (DoT) to your health. Again, the only way to damage the Cyclops is by throwing bombs at its eye. So, wait for the creatures with explosives on their heads to spawn. Defeat these foes, and quickly throw the bombs at the Cyclops’s eye to complete this phase.
Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 4
Romestead Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 4 It’s not over yet, as completing this fight’s third phase unlocks the fourth. Your goal for this stage is to survive. In particular, the Cyclops lays its hands at the edges of the arena, and then slowly closes them in an attempt to crush you. At the same time, boulders rain from the sky, which not only damage you but also the boss’s health. So, you can either concentrate on dodging until the boulders deplete the Cyclops’s health or evade the boulders and attack the hands to lessen the time it takes to complete this phase. Note that the latter option is riskier, as you might be stuck in an attacking animation while a boulder decides to spawn above your head.
Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 5
Romestead Cyclops Boss Fight Phase 5 You’re almost there, as this part is the fifth and final stage of the Cyclops fight in Romestead. After that “crushing” encounter in the previous phase, the boss’s eye dislodges from its socket. Now, your objective is to hit the rolling eye with everything you’ve got. This time, the Cyclops won’t retaliate. However, the eye can collide with your character, which can deal significant damage to your health. So, hit the eye, and dodge its rolling path. Eventually, the Cyclops’s eye’s health bar zeroes out, leaving you the conqueror of this long and arduous boss battle.
