Dog Days is a secondary quest in RuneScape: Dragonwilds 1.0, so adventurers do not need to trigger or finish it to progress. Completing it, however, unlocks a piece of equipment and its crafting recipe, which some players, especially completionists, may want to acquire. If you want to do that, keep reading to learn how to start and finish the quest.

RuneScape: Dragonwilds Dog Days Quest Walkthrough

Start this quest by traveling to the Stormtouched Highlands, a mountainous region that requires players to be at least Power Level 4. Travel east, past the bridge over the river, to find Vannaka standing by a campfire under a cliff. Talk to the NPC to trigger your first objective.

Investigate the Garou

After talking to Vannaka, your first task for the Dog Days quest is to head to the central part of the Stormtouched Highlands. In particular, travel to a Garou camp underneath a large Wyrm corpse. Once here, defeat the enemies, including the Garou Thane, in the middle of the camp. After defeating the Garou Thane, check the small, elevated rock near him to find a lore book. Read it, then return to Vannaka.

Challenge the Garou King

Vannaka will then instruct you to defeat the Garou King at the northwestern peak of Stormtouched Highlands. Prepare yourself, as the road to this location is riddled with Garou. Reach the Garou King’s dilapidated-looking domain and defeat him in glorious combat. However, that’s easier said than done, as this Power Level 5 mini-boss likes to block most incoming attacks with his large shield. Worse, he has an attack that can deplete your health to zero and return you to your saved spawn point. Defeating the Garou King rewards you with the Tainted King’s Token. Return to Vannaka and give him the token to trigger the next objective of the questline.

Purification Ritual

This time, Vannaka instructs you to purify the Tainted King’s Token. To do so, collect 2x Ram Horn and 3x Shocking Plant Bulb. Kill the nearby rams to get their horns. As a bonus, you can also farm Fleece from these animals, which you can use to craft Padded Cloth. For the Shocking Plant Bulb, search for Wild Lapulis Vines in the Stormtouched Highlands. Unlike the rams, these plants generally only drop one unit of Shocking Plant Bulb per kill, so defeat three to fulfill this quest objective’s requirements. With the Ram Horns and Shocking Plant Bulbs in your inventory, travel north of Vannaka’s small camp. Climb a small hill to reach Lougrim’s Shrine, but be warned, as three Garou Druids will stop you from purifying the tainted token. Interact with the shrine to perform the purification ritual on the Tainted King’s Token. Return to Vannaka afterward to complete the RuneScape: Dragonwilds Dog Days quest.

Dog Days Quest Rewards

Aside from the loot you’ll get during your stay in the Stormtouched Highlands, the only reward from completing the Dog Days quest is the Garou Highborn’s Cloak. It’s a basic item that grants the wearer +2 to melee, ranged, and magic defense stats. Crafting additional Garou Highborn’s Cloak is possible through the Armour Bench, as of the Dowdun Reach Update.
