Palworld Server Transfer Guide: How to Migrate a Palworld Server to BisectHosting
Publicado el por
There comes a moment in a Pal Tamer's journey when the humble co-op session simply isn’t enough, or when a bad Palworld server hosting experience takes away from your adventures and forces a change. Perhaps your guild outgrew the four-player limit of home hosting, the designated host is tired of leaving their PC running 24/7, or your group has grown tired of server hosts who simply can't perform.
Whatever the reason, transferring your existing Palworld server to BisectHosting is an excellent way to level up your experience, improving server performance and reliability and offering more powerful management tools via our custom control panel. Enjoy features like 24/7/365 support from game server hosting experts, mod support, free server backups, instance management, and game swapping to over 100 other games.
To help ensure your Palworld server arrives safe and sound and that you can continue your adventures with as little downtime as possible and minimize the risk of losing your progress, we've put together a guide on how to transfer your Palworld Server to BisectHosting so you can get the best experience possible!
Transferring a Palworld server to another host isn’t always as straightforward as dragging and dropping a few files. The biggest challenge comes when moving between Windows and Linux-based Palworld servers specifically, as each platform can identify player save data differently, resulting in player GUID mismatches after migration. If those GUIDs don't match, existing player characters may appear as new characters even though the world itself transferred successfully.
Fortunately, well-tested community tools and documented workflows exist for resolving player GUID mismatches that can occur during Windows-to-Linux or Linux-to-Windows migrations.
If you need assistance, our support team at BisectHosting also has extensive experience helping customers transfer their Palworld servers across operating systems while minimizing the risk of data loss.
Before starting the process, even with help from our support team, make sure you back up everything before attempting to transfer or migrate your Palworld server. Keep your untouched original files somewhere safe, and never move files directly when you can copy them to ensure you protect yourself from any issues.

Step-by-Step Guide: How to Transfer Your Palworld Server
Whether you're tired of self-hosting or switching from a poorly performing Palworld server provider, here's how to transfer your Palworld server to BisectHosting!- 1. Stop your current server to ensure all recent player progress has been written to disk.
- 2. Download the world save file from the following path in the desired server: Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0. Note that some server providers may require an SFTP Client to access the file. Extract the save file to an empty folder if it’s zipped.
- 3. Log in to the BisectHosting Starbase panel and start the server once so that Palworld generates the required save directories.
- 4. Wait for the server to finish startup, then stop it.
- 5. Head to the Files tab, and navigate to the following path: /home/Pal/Saved/SaveGames/0.
- 6. Right-click the Palworld world folder, and press Delete. WARNING: Ensure that you’ve backed up this folder before deleting it, as the data is permanently lost if something goes wrong.
- 7. Upload the downloaded world file from Step 1, and copy the folder’s name, which is your World's Save ID that tells Palworld which save directory to load.
- 8. Click the Settings tab, and select Startup. Next, place the copied folder’s name into the World Save ID field.
- 9. Start the transferred Palworld server, and check if the world transfer is working as intended.
