It’s that time once again when Rust receives its monthly update. This online multiplayer survival title receives new features and visual overhauls for the Rust March Update, including a new beginner-friendly island and some UI refreshes.

What’s in the Rust March Update?

A recent announcement mentions some of the features and changes coming to Rust in its March update, including the following:

Tutorial Island

Thanks to the new Tutorial Island, new Rust players won't have to feel as if they're crawling in the dark while getting their bearings playing the game. Although details about this beginner-friendly island are currently scarce, it should provide the necessary information for new players, such as basic movement and vehicle controls.

Vendor UI Refresh

The UI to exchange goods with vendor NPCs in Rust is relatively straightforward. Nonetheless, some players might find these visuals to lack excitement. This update changes the look of the vendors' UI, which may also alter some players' opinions when interacting with these NPCs.

Item Store UI Update

Like the vendor UI, the Rust item store UI will also receive a refresh for the game’s March update. Although the specifics for this UI refresh aren’t currently available, some players may expect a better in-store experience when the update goes live.

Nightlight

As mentioned in a January 2024 devblog, nighttime in Rust has been a hot topic within the game’s player base. Still, it doesn’t mean the developers didn’t hear the pleas of some players requesting nighttime to be more accessible. In the March update, Rust receives a form of nightlight, which might help increase the brightness when exploring the game’s map at night. Additionally, this update has various improvements and bug fixes, optimizing gameplay and performance as much as possible. However, the developers didn’t specify the details for these enhancements and repairs at the time of writing. Nonetheless, players should be able to see some improvements to their clients upon installing this latest patch.

The Rust March Update arrives on Thursday, March 7, 2024, at 19:00 GMT / 14:00 ET. It comes with the game’s monthly server wipes, which generally happens on every first Thursday of the month.
