How to Get the Snapthorn in Terraria

Introduced in Version 1.4.0.1 (for PC), Terraria players can get the Snapthorn by gathering materials from the pre-Hardmode underground jungle biome. In particular, the recipe for this summoner’s whip requires the following ingredients: 15x Stinger, 3x Vine, and 12x Jungle Spores. Ensure you are near an Iron or Lead Anvil to craft this weapon. Those who wish to craft a Snapthorn can start by gathering Stingers by defeating Hornets, Moss Hornets, and Spiked Jungle Slimes in the underground jungle. As for the vines, search for and kill Man Eaters. Remember, vine ropes that hang from ceilings and walls don’t drop the Vine item needed to craft the Snapthorn. Finally, collect the Jungle Spores from randomly growing jungle grass in the underground jungle.

Terraria Snapthorn Stats

The Snapthorn in Terraria is one of the game’s weapons that received a few changes over different updates. For instance, it received an increase in attack range in Version 1.4.1. However, it acquired multiple balance changes with the release of Version 1.4.4, as it garnered the following changes:

• Increased knockback from 1 to 1.5
• Jungle Fury’s attack speed bonus is reduced from 20% to 12%
• Fixed the issue wherein Jungle Fury was incorrectly applied to melee weapons

Version 1.4.4.8 also nerfed Snapthorn’s Poison debuff effects. In particular, developer Re-Logic reduced the on-hit Poison effect duration from 4 to 3 seconds. Additionally, this update reduced the chance of inflicting the debuff from 100% to 20%. Since then, Snapthorn hasn’t received further updates, even with the release of Terraria Version 1.4.5.8.
