Minecraft grows better and better with each passing year, but there are still many features fans are eagerly waiting to see appear. So, today, we explore the top five most requested Minecraft updates alongside ideas for what they could contain.

Top 5 Most Requested Minecraft Updates

Mushroom Island

Top Five Most Requested Minecraft Updates: Mushroom Island Screenshot Added in Minecraft 1.0.0, Mushroom Islands, or Mushroom Fields, have remained unchanged for over ten years. This has left them a bit outdated in comparison to the rest of the overworld, which saw major updates in Minecraft 1.17 and 1.18. However, this does not mean there isn’t plenty of potential! A rare fungal island remains a very cool concept with lots of room for new fungi, including decorative mushrooms such as glowing mushrooms, mushrooms that players can bounce on, and even new fungal creatures to live alongside the mooshrooms. Better yet, they could even contain new fungal structures home to villashrooms.

Combat Update

Top Five Most Requested Minecraft Updates: Diamond Armor Combat Loadout Screenshot Minecraft Bedrock and Minecraft Java play completely differently when it comes to combat. This has left many fans requesting parity or at least some sort of update for Java Edition. Regardless of the route taken, there are plenty of ways Mojang could go about it, including a way to toggle which kind of combat a server may prefer. Alongside those changes, a combat update could include a much-needed update for fletching tables, allowing them to craft new types of arrows, balance adjustments for underused enchantments, or a new spider dungeon or boss to truly give bane of arthropods a purpose.

Deep Dark Portal

Deep Dark Portal Screenshot At the center of every ancient city is a mysterious portal made of a near-unbreakable frame. If that does not scream new dimension, I don’t know what does! What awaits within could explain skulk, wardens, and the deep dark, complete with new bosses like the one seen in the unconfirmed Minecraft Spicewood leaks. However, what’s most exciting about this concept is that there could truly be anything on the other side. Maybe the skulk is just one biome with entirely new concepts beyond that, such as sky islands or a heavenly domain opposite of the nether. If Mojang truly wanted to put their creativity to the test, this would be the update to do it.

Transportation Update

Horse & Pig Screenshot Since the introduction of elytra, all other forms of transportation have fallen a bit to the wayside. This has made the calls for a transportation update all the louder, and Mojang seems to be listening, as we have already seen some work on it in the form of happy ghasts and experimental minecart updates. However, there is still much more that can be done. A big one seen around the internet is a desire for functioning player-built ships. We have shipwrecks after all, so it would make sense. Minecarts could also get a few updates alongside their experimental features, perhaps even allowing them to visibly hold ore or benefit strip mining in some capacity. Then there are horses too, which could have some sort of breeding end goal that leads to a Pegasus.

End Update

End Dimension Screenshot Finally, we have the most requested Minecraft update, which is the End Update. It is hard to find a post by Mojang that doesn’t have a comment joking about how it is secretly foreshadowing major changes to this dimension. But jokes about it aside, the end does need some love, and there is plenty that can be done. On the simpler end, this could be expanded end cities and crashed end ships. On the more expansive end, they could include ruins of biomes long since passed, new dragon-related structures, or something spooky, such as more void-based enemies. The creepy nature of the end could also be capitalized on to have something that truly stalks the player, but only really far out. A monster that lurks in the void below, waiting for the player to leave the safety of an island. Plenty of ideas exist out there, and if the recent changes to the end’s skybox to include flashes are any indication, we think Mojang may have some too. Hopefully, we get to see them soon.
