Setting up a thriving farm within the world of Core Keeper takes a lot of work. You've got to get some animals, give them a place to stay, keep them fed, and plenty more. Of course, lots of farming becomes a whole lot easier with Critters. And if you want an easy way to get your hands on some Critters, you'll need Hardened Sap. Don't worry — Core Keeper Hardened Sap isn't too hard to come by, and we'll show you how to get it down below.

How to Get Hardened Sap in Core Keeper

There are two different biomes where you can acquire Hardened Sap: Azeos' Wilderness and the Desert of Beginnings. What you need to find are Flower Vessels or Large Flower Vessels. These are yellow, bud-looking plants that will have a chance of dropping Hardened Sap once they're struck. These vessels can be found scattered all around Azeos' Wilderness, but the desert varieties can only be found within an Oasis. Thankfully, Flower Vessels are a fairly common spawn in the areas where they propagate. Hardened Sap does not have a great chance of spawning from these locations. In fact, here are the drop rate percentages for Hardened Sap when striking Flower Vessels:

• Flower Vessel: 2.18%
• Large Flower Vessel: 4.48%
• Oasis Flower Vessel: 1.69%
• Large Oasis Flower Vessel: 3.99%

Additionally, there are also two enemies that have a chance of dropping Hardened Sap. Caveling Gardeners have a 1.59% chance of dropping it when defeated, and they're scattered throughout Azeos' Wilderness as well. Meanwhile, Floracadas have a whopping 32.05% chance of producing Hardened Sap. However, you can only find a Floracadas by summoning it at a Cicada Burrow using Hardened Sap. Not the best way to get more of the stuff if you're hoping to use it back at your farm.

Hardened Sap Uses

Despite its name and gooey appearance, Hardened Sap is actually a furniture item in Core Keeper. Not one you'd want to sit on or decorate with, of course, but a useful one in any farm. Once you place Hardened Sap, it will cause an assortment of Critters to spawn periodically. You can use these Critters for feeding your animals, decorations, or even lighting if you find the right ones. Just keep in mind that the Critters spawned by Hardened Sap depend on what biome you're placing the Hardened Sap in. Here are all of the Critters that Hardened Sap can spawn in each biome:

• Undergrounds: Earthworm
• Clay Caves: Earthworm & Larvlet
• Forgotten Ruins: Pest Bug
• Azeos' Wilderness: Earthworm, Leafhopper, Citrus Pinion, Dusk Fiary, Crimson Wing, & Dream Messenger
• Sunken Sea: Sun Pincher, Moon Pincher, Ice Wind, & Crimson Wing
• Desert of Beginnings: Little Death & Manyleg
• Shimmering Frontier: Gem Snail, Snoot Fly, & Shadow Newt
• Passage: Blackbug
