How to Make the Battle Potion in Terraria

Introduced in Patch 1.0.5, players can craft the Battle Potion in Terraria using one of two recipes:

• Recipe #1: 1x Bottled Water, 1x Deathweed, and 1x Rotten Chunk
• Recipe #2: 1x Bottled Water, 1x Deathweed, and 1x Vertebra

You can craft this item near a Placed Bottle or the Alchemy Table. Additionally, the recipe to follow generally depends on your world seed. In particular, acquire a Rotten Chunk by defeating a Corruptor, Devourer, or Eater of Souls in The Corruption biome. Alternatively, get a Vertebra by killing a Blood Crawler, Crimera, Face Monster, or Floaty Gross in the Crimson biome. As for the Deathweed, you can find this herb in either the Corruption or Crimson biomes. This plant naturally grows in those areas.

Battle Potion Effects

Consuming the Battle Potion in Terraria doubles the enemy spawn rate for seven minutes. Additionally, this effect is stackable with other similar effects, making it an extremely effective way to farm chase items. Another item with a comparable enemy spawn-rate-increasing effect is the Water Candle. Note that using the Battle Potion with enemy spawn-rate-reducing effects, such as Sunflowers and Calming Potions, reduces its efficacy. The effects of the Battle Potion also work during events and invasions that don’t have set spawn rates. Two notable examples include the Blood Moon and Solar Eclipse events. However, the Battle Potion’s effects won’t work on events with set spawn rates, like the Pumpkin Moon and Frost Moon invasions. It’s also possible to stack the effects of the Battle Potion in online co-op. Players in the same Terraria server can use multiple Battle Potions to increase the maximum number of allowable enemies and NPCs spawning on the map.
