Terraria Meteorite Guide: Ore, Spawn Requirements, Locations & more

Some items in Terraria can only be farmed after a particular event occurs. One notable example is the Meteorite in Terraria, where you must wait for a meteorite crash to farm the item. So, keep reading, and we’ll guide you through the conditions to summon a meteorite in Terraria so you can mine its valuable ore.
First, the Meteorite mini-biome must occur before you can harvest the Meteorite ore. A meteorite must fall to create this mini-biome.
You’ll know when this event occurs when the text, “A meteorite has landed!” appears on the lower-left side of the screen. As of version 1.4.0.1 (also called the Journey’s End update), if you’re at the surface layer, you’ll see a meteor-falling animation in the background before the on-screen message appears.
The meteorite will always fall off-screen. Also, it’ll be at a random location in the surface layer.
But before the meteorite in Terraria can fall, certain conditions must be in effect. These requirements are the following:
Upon finding the Meteorite mini-biome, use your pickaxe to mine the Meteorite ore from the crash site. Note that you can only mine the ore with a pickaxe with at least 50% pickaxe power, such as the Tungsten Pickaxe.
Additionally, enemies called Meteor Heads will try and hinder your mining operation. However, killing these enemies gives a slight chance of dropping Meteorite ores.
Contact with Meteorite blocks also inflicts the Burning debuff. Prevent this debuff by consuming an Obsidian Skin Potion or wearing the Obsidian Skull accessory. Other items that can prevent the Burning debuff are the following:
